OUR STORIES ARE OUR

STRENGTH YMCA OF GREATER SYRACUSE 2018-2019 Annual Impact Report ycny.org

Dear Y Members and Supporters, Each year, we share the impact the YMCA of Greater Syracuse has in our community with the release of our annual report, providing our members, volunteers, and donors with an opportunity to look deeper into the growth and impact of our programs, services and activities.

“Every day at the Y, we witness firsthand what is possible when engaged donors and leaders come together to tackle and solve some of our greatest challenges.”

For more than 160 years, our YMCA has worked side-by-side with our members, donors, local government, businesses, and other community leaders to facilitate positive change for our region. Our organizational history provides a strong foundation for the launch of our newly developed strategic plan in 2019. We look forward to taking on the work reflected in the plan including strategies around further strengthening youth and families, being a community leader for leadership and skill development for teens, ensuring the Y’s healthy living framework provides equitable access to all, and providing supportive services to the most vulnerable in our community. Our additional strategic priorities will work to strengthen the Y’s financial position, in addition to our brand. Our annual report also reminds us that it’s important to reflect on and celebrate philanthropy’s role in our work. Every day at the Y, we witness firsthand what is possible when engaged donors and leaders come together to tackle and solve some of our greatest challenges. The future of our Y holds many challenges and opportunities and we’re excited to face them and create even more impact for good in Central New York. We urge you to continue to stay connected and involved through volunteer service, sharing your Y stories, making your own personal gift, or telling a friend about our programs and services – your support makes the great work of the YMCA possible. THANK YOU TO OUR 2018 HEROES At the Y, we work side by side with our neighbors to make sure that everyone – regardless of age, income or background – has the opportunity to learn, grow and thrive. Our work wouldn’t be possible without our donors. We’re especially grateful to those who made leadership gifts of $1,000 or more, joining a circle of supporters founded in 2005 to honor the memory of Dick Besse, a philanthropist and long-standing leader of the YMCA of Greater Syracuse. Over several decades, Dick gave generously to advance our cause: to strengthen community.
