En Cabárceno se ubica el Centro de recuperación de aves rapaces de Cantabria. Aquí se da acogida y asistencia a cualquier rapaz autóctona que lo precise, tratando de curarla para devolverla al medio natural. Si no es posible se la adiestra para formar parte de la exhibición. También se han tratado casos de aves exóticas abandonadas por humanos caprichosos que se han aburrido de cuidar su “mascota”. Existen en este Centro unas 20 especies de todo el mundo y una cantidad de ejemplares que oscila entre 150 y 160. La exhibición de vuelo no es un número más de circo con animales enseñados en cautividad, sino que lo que se pretende es dar a conocer al espectador el comportamiento de estas aves en su vida diaria: como vigilan, buscan, cazan…

abárceno hosts Cantabria’s Bird of Prey Recovery Centre. Here any autochthonous bird of prey is welcomed and looked after as needed, attempting to cure it to return it to its natural environment. If that is not possible, it is trained to join an exhibition. Cases of exotic birds that have been abandoned by capricious humans who have become bored of looking after their “pet” have also been dealt with here.
