Michael Kyes & Bill Roventini:

On Sunday, July 13 the Community Center hosted two memorial events. In the Peace Garden, Jim Corbett led the installation of a memorial bench honoring former mayor Bill Roventini. In the Main Hall, a gathering celebrating the very full and rich life of Michael Kyes was held. Please join us in appreciating the impressive contributions these wonderful and good-hearted men made to our community .

Join SACA Tue, Aug 12 – Coffee & Dessert - FREE: A few years ago, a handful of

community leaders came together with a heartfelt mission: To review, discuss, and seek solutions to issues facing our youth, including drug and alcohol use, and other harmful behaviors, in order to better support the health and well-being of our Sebastopol-area youth and families. From that core mission grew the Sebastopol Area Community Alliance, Sonoma County’s Health Action Chapter for Sebastopol. Join SACA (Jeff Weaver, Keller McDonald, Diane Davis, Rich Cundall, Sarah Gurney, and Diana Rich), for an update on the six community initiatives pursued thus far, hoped for County funding for future efforts, and special treats prepared by the talented youth of Sebastopol’s Culinary Bootcamp. SCCC Honored:

SCCC is proud to be involved in many local efforts to enrich and improve the lives of children and teens in West Sonoma County. That effort was formally recognized by the West Sonoma County Union High School District Trustees this year, with the presentation to SCCC Executive Director Diana Rich of the Rebecca C. Hopper “Make a Difference Award” for support given by Diana and SCCC for the TeensWork job training and placement program. SCCC thanks WSCUHSD and Superintendent Keller McDonald for this very special honor.

LAST CALL: Ride the Tour d’Organics on August 10: Perfect for families, experienced riders, and everyone in between. Ride through those famous Sonoma County hills. Stop at local organic farms (the peaches at Dry Creek Peach are not to be missed!). Routes from 16 miles to 100. Support is the best. The after-party is totally fun – Lagunitas beer, wine, music with The Rhythm Rangers, fabulous food from Fork Catering, and some very West County vendors and exhibitors (artists, electric vehicles, bicycle jewelry, organized Laguna walks, etc). As an added bonus, this fundraiser supports the Sebastopol Community Cultural Center, which serves the recreational, enrichment, and entertainment needs of West Sonoma County. Don’t miss it! Sign up at www.seb.org.

Ease into Fitness - Feldenkrais

Thank You City of Sebastopol! SCCC is an independent nonprofit. We are largely

(with your help!) self-sustaining. Every little bit is essential to our making our budget each year. One part of that equation is City support. We thank the City for allocating $11,300 for operations this year, and also for new support for our Concert Series. Finally, we are thrilled to report that the remodel funded by the City is moving forward. Look for big changes soon! As you enjoy the updated reception area, bathrooms, and kitchen, please remember to thank the City Council, City Manager, and the rest of our wonderful City staff for making it all happen. For the design, we give recognition to Persinger Architects and Associates.

Spring Phone-a-Thon a Success! Our goal was $15,000 this year. We met and

exceeded it, with a total donated of $19,000. Thank you to this wonderful community for helping us continue to offer quality classes, programs, and entertainment. A special thanks to challenge grant donors Gabrielle Disario in memory of her husband and former Board member Don Fangmeyer; Jerry & Suzanne Knecht; Jan Kahdeman & Brian Purcell (financial advisor with Morgan Stanley); Eye Care Institute, Bob Fried & Pam Burleson; Rob & Cie Cary, and to Harmony Farm Supply & Nursery for the $10 gift cards given to those 50 generous donors who gave $100 or more. We LOVE West Sonoma County!!

Rotary and Kiwanis: The Community Center was chosen as a special “paddle

raise” recipient at this year’s Sunrise Rotary Guys Can Cook Too event. We thank Sunrise Rotary for that honor, and also for the Club’s generous support of so many worthy interests in Sebastopol. On the heels of the July 3 Fireworks event, we take this opportunity to recognize Kiwanis for their hard work in making that event happen each year, as well as their generous support of SCCC. Finally, we express our appreciation for support from the Rotary Club of Sebastopol, (yes, we have two Rotary clubs!). These organizations all do incredible work to enrich our community.

Whole Foods and Nickels for Nonprofits. Four nonprofits are supported each year

through the Whole Foods Nickels for Nonprofits program. Customers who bring in their own bags get a nickel off their purchases, or can donate the nickel to the selected nonprofit. SCCC was chosen to participate this year, and received over $2000. That’s a lot of nickels! Thank you to Whole Foods and to all those generous customers.

We create beautiful, effective, content-rich websites and apps.

If your needs go beyond the ordinary, let’s talk!
