The WVU Benjamin M. Statler College of Engineering and Mineral Resources has three direct-
ADMISSION
tracks for incoming freshmen based primarily on math readiness. These tracks maximize your chance for a successful college experience. The pathway on which you are admitted can determine the time it takes for you to graduate. Additionally, it is important to note that you won’t start directly into a specific engineering discipline until you complete the core classes required to move into that major. Some majors are competitive, and entrance into them is based on GPA after completion of six core courses, which include ENGL 101; CHEM 115; MATH 155; and ENGR 101, 102 and 191.

TRACK 1
This track is for students who are ready for college-level calculus. Students in this track typically graduate in four years.
TRACK 2
This track is for students who place into a pre-calculus course. Students in this track typically graduate in four or four-and-a-half years.
TRACK 3
This track is designed for students who place into algebra. Students in this track typically graduate in four-and-a-half to five years.

GENERAL ENGINEERING This path is for students who have not had the ability to take the ACT or SAT. Time to graduation will still be dependent on math placement. Students are encouraged to submit AP math scores, college level math classes, or an ACT or SAT test results if taken after admissions. There is an option to take a WVU math placement test after admissions as well.
