RECORDS FALL IN 29-4 VICTORY Bryant Hernandez (left) and Jamie Johnson combined to hit three of the Sooners’ school record 11 home runs at Kansas State on March 22, 2009. The total tied a Big 12 record and was two shy of tying an NCAA record. OU hit five home runs in the first inning of that game after sending 17 batters to the plate to score 13 runs (one run shy of tying school record). OU’s 29 runs in the game tied for the fourth most runs scored in school history and the most since 1986. The 27 hits on March 22 at KSU were three shy of the school record and the most hits recorded by an OU team since Feb. 17, 1991 (29 vs. Kearney State).
