Adhesive Dentistry 2013 - Part 2 John Kanca, DMD Thursday, June 13 from 2:00p.m. - 5:00 p.m. CDE Credits: 3 Hours Room: M-404/405

Learning Objectives: • Understand the American Heart Association’s stratification of cardiac risk in patients with cardiovascular disease. • Learn how to assess and modify care for patients with cardiovascular disease, pulmonary disease and diabetes as well as for patients taking anticoagulants.

ORTHODONTICS

This lecture is a must for those seeking to place the finest restorations possible with the fewest difficulties. Among the topics covered are the principles of adhesion (including an overview of available resin bonding systems), the best and easiest method for creating a properly wet etched dentin surface, sealing crown preparations, evaluation and treatment of tooth pain and postoperative sensitivity, and the truth about deep posterior restorations. Attendees will also learn about current ceramics and how best to bond to ceramic and the tooth. There will also be a discussion of the best activation lights, whitening, and other things attendees might want to have their armamentarium.

Dr. Beirne is currently Professor of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery at the University of Washington and Chief of Hospital Dentistry at the University of Washington Medical Center.

Proper orthodontic intervention has an enormous capability to influence the growth and development of the PharyngOroFacial anatomy. As a result, it can be utilized effectively in early diagnosis, prevention, and treatment of related complications including dentofacial disharmonies, TMJ problems, airway difficulties and premature orofacial ageing. This lecture will demonstrate how orthodontic treatment strategies can be expanded to positively impact and improve patents’ overall health beyond just straightening the teeth.

Thursday, June 13 from 8:30 a.m. - 11:30 a.m. • Code 1 Thursday, June 13 from 1:30 p.m. - 4:30 p.m. • Code 7 CDE Credit: 3 hours Fee: $ 95 Limit: 60 Room: H-Larch The BLS for Health Care Providers course covers core material such as adult CPR (including two - rescuer scenarios and use of the bag mask), foreign-body airway obstruction, and automated external defibrillation (AED). Participants will receive their CPR certification course completion card (cards expire every two years). Mr. Cole is a firefighter/paramedic with more than 25 years of experience.

Assessment is essential for the safe treatment of the medically-compromised patient. The pre-treatment assessment is especially important if these complex patients require sedation. This lecture will present recommendations for evaluating medically compromised patients that will enable health care providers to identify risks and prevent complications.
