Office Oral Surgery for the General Practitioner Made Easy - Part 1 Robert R. Edwab, DDS Thursday, June 12 from 8:00 a.m. - 11:00 a.m. CDE Credits: 3 Hours Room: Meydenbauer 405-406 In this all-day lecture, a complete office visit is reviewed, starting with a basic health history that places the patient into a physical status category that indicates whether you should treat or refer. Prepare for common office emergencies with an inexpensive homemade emergency kit. Dr. Edwab will teach you which instruments to use and avoid and how to choose suture materials and needles. Review procedures for root removal, alveoplasties, frenectomies, biopsies, apicoectomies, impaction removals and tori reductions. The lecture continues with a discussion of the basic principles of performing an incision and drainage and when to refer to avoid spreading space infections. At the end of this lecture, by using the clinician’s simple and comprehensive approach, the practitioner will be able to perform various oral surgical procedures with greater confidence and possess the knowledge to handle any complication that may arise. Dental Laser Proficiency Lasers: The Standard Proficiency Lecture - Part 1

Standard Proficiency is the basic level of education in dental laser usage, including specific laser proficiency and laboratory knowledge. The Standard Proficiency level defines the standard of care for the dental professional and provides the attendee with an overview of the scientific fundamentals of lasers, the instruments themselves, safety issues and clinical guidelines in accordance with the Curriculum Guidelines and Standards for Dental Laser Education. The standard level of proficiency also forms the base credential for progressing to the Advanced Proficiency level. Successful candidates at the Standard Proficiency level can submit for the advanced examination immediately after obtaining their Standard Proficiency. The 75-question multiple-choice examination is only administered online through the ALD website and will require an additional $95 exam registration fee. You must complete the Standard Proficiency online exam within 90 days of the lecture date.
