A worker who is a nonnative of the United States is considered a citizen once they receive citizenship from that country’s immigration service. All nonnative workers in the United States without citizenship are classified as noncitizens. The latter can be either legal or illegal immigrants.

The CPS provides the basic information on the labor force, employment, and unemployment in the U.S. economy. The survey is conducted monthly for the Bureau of Labor Statistics by the U.S. Census Bureau.

The CPS database considers Mexicans to be those who were born in Mexico and those individuals who declare themselves Mexican, irrespective of whether they were born there.

A full-time worker is a worker who usually works 35 or more hours per week at their sole or principal job, whereas a part-time worker usually works fewer than 35 hours per week at their sole or principal job.
