Provision has also been made for periodic user surveys, to gather the views and advice of the trading community generally.
Monitor Corridor Performance UEMOA is already conducting significant monitoring work with assistance from the USAID-financed West Africa Trade Hub on the Bamako–Ouagadougou–Tema Corridor. The Trade Hub’s work now intends to expand beyond the road barriers aspect, which has been its focus so far. Priority corridors: Bamako–Dakar (1,200 km) Niamey–Cotonou (900 km) Bamako/Ouagadougou–Tema (1,900 km) Monitoring work on this road and on the overland portions of the two Central African corridors listed below is being strengthened under the ongoing multidonor projects in support of their further development. Latin America Improve the Transit Regime Actions taken: The International Land Transport Agreement (ATIT), signed by the Latin American Integration Association (Asociación Latinoamericana de Integración, or ALADI) in 1990 and adopted by the Southern Common Market (MERCOSUR) in 1994, is the main legal instrument governing international freight movements by road or rail for Bolivia, Paraguay, and their transit neighbors. ATIT rightly stresses three keys to success: professionalization of service providers, acceptance by member countries of internal documents issued by other members, and reciprocity and flexibility in the application of standards. It includes an MIC/DTA (International Freight Manifest/Customs Transit Declaration) form, modeled on the United Nations’ SAD. The MIC/DTA, backed by eight other standard documents for a trade consignment, secures transit rights.
