7. HowTo Guide C3-2: Planning and Undertaking a Joint M&E Mission/Trip NOTE: Specific guidance has been developed on roles and responsibilities in undertaking joint missions to assess M&E systems. The steps listed here are general steps for a joint mission, irrespective of its purpose. If the purpose of the joint mission is to do a joint assessment of the status of the M&E system, then consult the relevant multi-partner operational guidance on conducting M&E assessments and choosing M&E assessment tools.
Step 1:
Gather information before the mission
Contact the government to bring it into the loop of discussions about a joint mission. This step should start by contacting the government organization that requested the support to be provided through the planned M&E mission. The government contact person should be told of plans to contact other agencies, as well as the purpose of these contacts (to establish partnership opportunities). Efforts should be made to confirm the following with the government contact person: • • • •
