9. This study was based on a sample of 269 graduates of the National Certificate in Engineering Draughtsmanship program. The program offered in 2000 was the revised version of 1995/96 program. 10. The study was based on a 2003 sample of 169 respondents representing 73 graduates, 67 in-training candidates, and 29 dropouts. 11. The study was based on a sample of 57 respondents representing 20 graduates and 37 dropouts. It was also based on interviews with 29 parents, 9 dropouts, 21 schoolteachers, and 20 NAITA instructors. Coverage was 1998 to 2004 and limited to Western Province. 12. US$ 1= 100.50 Sri Lankan rupees in 2005. 13. The study was based on a sample of 76 respondents representing 26 graduates, 30 dropouts, 16 instructors, and 4 business executives. Coverage was 2002 and limited to Badulla and Hambantota districts. 14. This study (DTET 2005b) was based on a sample of 285 respondents representing 7 technical school principals, 43 instructors, and 235 graduates of engineering craft courses. 15. The study by NYSC (2005) was based on a sample of 70 respondents, 97 percent of whom were under age 29 and 63 percent of whom had A-level qualifications. The sample covered students from course programs offered in 1997, 2000, 2001, 2002, and 2003. 16. The study by VTA (2005b) was based on a sample of 221 respondents representing 215 participants and 6 instructors. 17. The study by NAITA (2005c) was based on a sample of 200 companies representing micro (37 percent), small (28.5 percent), medium (13.5 percent), and large (21 percent) enterprises providing services, buying and selling, production and exporting, and production and selling.
