The UDM doctoral Program is pleased to announce the creation of the Hartmann Professional Development Fund, which has been made possible by the generous donation from UDM Program alum, Pamela J. Hartmann, Ph.D. Pamela J. Hartmann, Ph.D. (Clinical Psychology), established the Pamela J. Hartmann, Ph.D. Professional Development Fund at the University of Detroit Mercy in support of the overall long-range goals of the program which emanate from our training model and are directed toward the training of professional clinical psychologists who demonstrate and practice: 1) professional competence and adaptability; 2) ethical standards and sensitivity to social justice; 3) scholarly contributions to the field of psychology; and 4) provide service to the community. The Pamela J. Hartmann, Ph.D. Professional Development Fund promotes students’ professional development in their quest to make scholarly contributions to the field. Funds may be used to cover expenses such as, but not limited to, conference registration fees, travel, lodging, and production of necessary materials (i.e., posters) for scholarly presentations. Dr. Pamela J. Hartmann earned a MA in 1995 and a Ph.D. in 1997 in Clinical Psychology at the University of Detroit Mercy and is dedicated to offering high-quality mental health care to the Detroit metropolitan area. She specializes in the treatment of autistic spectrum disorders, eating disorders, as well as depression, anxiety, postpartum depression, dyslexia and attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) in children and adults. She has worked with children, teens and adults using a combination of methods, including play therapy, psychodynamic, cognitive-behavioral and interpersonal psychotherapy; has counseled couples, families and groups; and is professionally licensed to administer psychological testing. With a heartfelt commitment to ensuring Detroit Mercy’s Clinical Psychology Doctoral Program students have access to professional development opportunities and make meaningful scholarly contributions to the field, Dr. Hartmann established this fund to offset expenses associated with such opportunities. The typical funding level is determined by the Program Director based on the needs of the students and funds available. Others may contribute to the fund.

She has authored and presented numerous papers on the evaluation and treatment of therapists who have engaged in sexual misconduct and authored Sexual Boundary Violations: Therapeutic, Supervisory and Academic Contexts (Aronson, 2007). Her recent book, Erotic Revelations is on erotic transferences and countertransferences, using one's countertransference to further inform the treatment. She is in private practice in Lexington, Massachusetts. MacKenzie Kostizen, Doctoral Student in Clinical Psychology, presented her psychotherapy case for discussion. Ms. Kostizen will undertake her first external practicum experience at Oakland University Graham Counseling Center during the 2016-17 academic year. The Michigan Psychoanalytic Institute brings a Visiting Professor of Psychoanalysis to Michigan in March or April of each year for a week-long series of talks and case conferences with the students and faculty at the local universities. Blume joined Mercy College of Detroit in 1987 in the Child Development Program. In her 28 years at UDM, she has written and co-authored numerous books, peer-reviewed articles, editorials, introductions to special issues, conference proceedings and made presentations at various state and national conferences. In 2014, she was chosen to serve as editor-in-chief of the Journal of Family Theory and Review. Blume also serves on community advisory boards and is a mentor to junior faculty and a source of help and support to undergraduate majors in Developmental Psychology.

Faculty F lt News N Libby Balter Blume, Ph.D., professor of psychology from the College of Liberal Arts and Education, received the Faculty Excellence Award in November. This prestigious honor is given to a faculty member who demonstrates excellence as a teacher and scholar and places this person among the most outstanding faculty members at the University. The Journal Citation Report, which includes the impact factor and subject category rankings for all indexed journals, was released by Thomson Reuters this summer. This was the first year that Journal of Family Theory & Review (JFTR), edited by Dr. Blume, was eligible for inclusion since its founding in 2009. JFTR received a 2-year impact factor of 1.829 and was ranked 10/43 in Family Studies, only one rank behind the prestigious Journal of Marriage and Family. Barry Dauphin, Ph.D. ABPP, received board certification for Psychoanalysis in Psychology from the American Board of Professional Psychology (ABPP) on April 8, 2016. Cheryl Munday, Ph.D. was promoted to Professor of Psychology on May 2, 2016. John Porcerelli, Ph.D., ABPP became a Fellow of the American Psychological Association.
