Reopening Plan WOODSTOCK SCHOOL

01 CURRENT SCENARIO

Woodstock School

Current Scenario • Uttarakhand Government has only permitted Grade 10 and 12 to return to schools in the state • Momentum India, our Health and Safety partner, has visited our campus and trained our staff • The dorms are being emptied, student belongings are being packed and dorms being readied for a deep sanitization • Cases in Uttarakhand are on the rise so some reversals of lockdown release mechanisms may be put in place by the government which may affect these plans • Many Schools in Delhi, in Tamil Nadu and abroad have opened and then been shut again • A phased return of our students starting with Grade 12, 1st week of March is the current plan • As each grade is called back, teachers who teach that grade will be called back before the students return (as per govt rules) – So Gr 12 and 10 teachers will need to be back on campus before the students return • Landour Community Hospital technicians can visit the school for sample collections – tests are sent to Dehradun and returned within 24 hours • Covid +ve cases that need hospitalization can be admitted to Max Hospital

Woodstock School

Current Scenario (In process) • Woodstock School is seeking permission as a special case from Uttarakhand Govt for Gr 11 to return. This is a detailed process and will require us to have the campus ready for Gr 12 for inspection before it can be approved

02 PLAN AND RATIONALE

Woodstock School

Plan and Rationale • Continue distance learning from January with a revised timetable of 40 min periods for all grades - Blended Learning Timetable. Rationale: The 25 min periods worked well initially, but there is feedback coming in to increase the time • The government requires parent consent before students can return; Consent forms will be sent along with the requests for travel plans in January. The decision to open other grades will depend on how many students are returning in each grade • The government has not given any SOPs yet for students who have taken the vaccine, so they will be required to follow the same rules as all students until we have clarity • Students who opt not to return have the option to continue distance learning from home, following the same bell schedule followed by students in school. Students also have the option to wait and join a little later, subject to availability of quarantine rooms Rationale: Parents might want to wait for various reasons, we do not want students who cannot come back to be left behind • Quarter break is moved to 1st week of March Rationale: To save teaching time and allow for a continuous stretch of lessons from March till May

Woodstock School

Plan and Rationale: Travel (Grade 12) • Starting March 1st, students arrive in *batches of not more than 25 in a day, spread out across the day Rationale: To enable social distancing on arrival • Travel Forms with a list of items to be carried, will be sent in January to Gr 10 and 12 students with sign-up sheets for arrival. Rationale: To enable social distancing on arrival • Students to do a RT-PCR test 24-72 hours before their departure Rationale: As a first level of checks and to ensure that students who are sick do not travel • Students should not travel if the test is positive, or if they or anyone in their family is symptomatic Rationale: Such students can delay travel until they test negative with an RT-PCR certificate after symptoms have cleared • All staff and employees do a RT-PCR test 72 hours before student arrivals Rationale: As a first level of checks

Woodstock School

Plan and Rationale : Arrival & Quarantine (Grade 12) • On entry, thermal screening at the gate for all members in the vehicle. Woodstock is now a No Mask, No Entry campus Rationale: To enable social distancing on arrival. If anyone in the car has a temperature, the student will not be allowed on campus, and should consult a doctor • Accompanying family members will not be allowed to enter the campus beyond the Ridgewood parking lot. All meetings with dorm parents, nurses, other staff will have to be virtual Rationale: To minimize contact with the community • Student is checked into the quarantine centre (Ridgewood and Alter Ridge) – 1 child per room filling floors in order of arrival – quarantine for 7 days Rationale: Isolation period before 2nd RT-PCR test to cover incubation time • Staff supervising them in the quarantine centre will be in full PPE, and food will be served on trays to each room Rationale: To minimize contact, ensure contact tracing and for the safety of all • RT-PCR test is conducted on the 7th day for the entire community – staff, employees and students who have completed quarantine Rationale: To ensure the safety of the entire campus together and complete govt. protocols, and submitting these certificates to the Secretary of Education’s office

Woodstock School

Plan and Rationale: New normal (Grade 12) • On the 8th day students who test negative are transferred to their dorms – Midlands and Hostel. All Gr 12 testing will finish by 10th March Rationale: To establish the new normal in the dorms • Students will be grouped into families of 6 people (using friends circles) who can interact with each other without masks or social distancing in their rooms. In the corridors, classrooms, and at school level, masks will be worn at all times Rationale: To allow for the mental well-being of the students • Cameras in the hallways and the school corridors for contact tracing - data is kept for 1 week and then deleted Rationale: For contact tracing purposes • Outside vendors not allowed, no Out of Boarding (OB), no visits home, no ordering in, no Open Bazaar. Students travel only between school and dorms. Families will be escorted by dorm parents to and from school. Dorm parents will be masked when interacting with students Rationale: To minimize outside contact and therefore risk • Employees will have minimum or no contact with students and will be masked and socially distanced when in the vicinity Rationale: To minimize internal contact and enable contact tracing

Woodstock School

Plan and Rationale: School level (Grade 12) • Masks at all times in classrooms and in corridors. Masks can be removed when in their own room, with family members Rationale: To establish the new normal in the dorms • A Family group can eat together but be seated socially distanced from the rest of the families Rationale: To allow for the mental well-being of the students • Seating in classrooms will be socially distanced Rationale: Interaction outside the family will have to be with masks and social distancing for their protection • Classrooms, dorms, toilets and frequent contact points will be regularly disinfected Rationale: For sanitization purposes • Students will be briefed thoroughly on all protocols on arrival and with the help of signage around school. Consequences will be established for students who violate the protocols, which could include sending them back home Rationale: To ensure that the community is not put at risk • Students who wish to return later may continue distance learning and come in later, subject to availability of quarantine rooms. Rationale: To ensure that student learning continues whether they return or not
