It’s your world. STUDY IT. OMAR ELMORE ’19 Omar Elmore ’19 loves everything about college, but his favorite part is the classroom experience. “I have met many kinds of people here at Wofford, each offering a new viewpoint, a new perspective. The challenge for me has been to understand those with different experiences and different ways of looking at the world. The discussion-based classes allow for that sharing of perspectives. While my professors have a profound knowledge about the many topics we discuss, hearing the thoughts of other students has allowed me to grow as a person and a scholar.”

An international student from Honduras, Fredy has found a home away from home at Wofford. “As a freshman, I decided to get involved because I like to be productive — do things that magnify the community where I live. With some assistance, I created an organization of Latin American students, because I noticed that there was not one that promoted our culture and language. Wofford empowers students to explore their interests and run with their ideas.”

TRISTAN KREBS ’17 Tristan Krebs ’17, a theatre major from Louisville, Kentucky, spoke at the topping out ceremony for the Rosalind Sallenger Richardson Center for the Arts. After acting, directing, writing and managing productions with the Wofford Theatre, she has decided to pursue a career as a professional director when she graduates. “I’ve known for a long time that I wanted to pursue a career in the arts, and I chose Wofford over bigger theatre programs because I wanted more. I wanted to learn about history and science and religion and sociology — in addition to theatre — because I knew that breadth would help me more as an artist.”

Through Greek life at Wofford she discovered both, in addition to a passion for local community philanthropy. “The sororities on campus are very diverse, with members involved in a variety of campus activities. For example, I’m on the women’s soccer team, and all my sorority sisters are unbelievably supportive of my commitment to athletics. At every game I can look into the stands and see them cheering us on. Being involved in both gives my life the balance I feel it needs. The organizations I belong to on campus have provided me with relationships that make Wofford feel like home!”
