AEON
An adaptable and acessible agroecological system, that enhances biodiversity and a healthier lifestyle.
LAND USE AND FOOD DISTRIBUTION
13 MILLION HA ARE DEFORESTED EVERY YEAR
FEED 9 BILLION WILL REQUIRE A 70% INCREASE IN FOOD PRODUCTION PASTURELAND 22.8% CROPLAND 15.8% OTHERS 14.9%
VEGETABLES COVER 1% OF THE WORLD’S AGRICULTURAL AREA
70% OF THE WORLD WATER WITHDRAWAL IS USED FOR AGRICULTURE
AGRICULTURE EMITS 5 BILLIONS TONNES OF CO2 EVERY YEAR
HOW TO:
Prevent deforestation;
Merge nature and urban space;
Intensify food production;
Increase local biodiversity;

AEON EVOLUTION
#1 In order to increase the production of agriculture without using more land, through arduino we control the soil moisture, air humidity/temperature, and irrigation to provide the best condition for the plants. Water collected from the green roof and condensed water from the ceiling will go back down to the reservatory, creating a closed looped cycle.
AEON EVOLUTION
#2 The next prototype was focused on agroforestry, rather than having a controlled structure we opted to link agriculture and the forest by planting vertically rather than horizontally. It is a mix of aeroponics and geoponics, with a water filtration system below.
AEON EVOLUTION
#3 The third is an advancement on the design of the previous prototype, clay is used for its sustainable properties, it can be molded to any shape and degrades into the soil after a period of time.
AEON EVOLUTION
#4 The final prototype shows an increase in size from the previous one, to be able to grow bigger crops and maximize the production. The interior is covered with latex to collect excess water, while the grid where the plants sit on is made of a thread like material to allow expansion when the plants are placed.
STRUCTURE AND ADAPTABILITY
DESERT:
•evaporation of salt water, collected through condensation
Through gravitation force, the water will irrigate the plants, and its leftover will be transferred to another prototype
•fog catcher, where water is collected as tiny droplets of moisture condense on big nets
Aeroponics reduce water usage by 98%, fertilizer by 60% and pesticides by 100% The hanged roots recieve more air and nutrients, encreasing the plants cycle by 4 to 6 times
RAINFOREST:
•rainwater collectors, with stores at high altitudes
•plant condensation through photosyntesis
The whole system can be left to fall apart, the seeds inside will grow new plants and the clay shell will give the soil underneath more nutrients
