COACHING STAFF Doug Nowell

Assistant Coach - Infield | Fifth Season Doug Nowell returns for his fifth season with the Wildcat baseball team. He came to Wilmington University after establishing himself as one of the premier youth and high school coaches in the tri-state area. Most recently, he spent the previous four seasons as the head baseball coach at Salesianum High School, where he went 74-18 and won a state championship in 2008. Coach Nowell also spent time coaching at A.I. DuPont and Delcastle High Schools. Nowell will continue to be the team’s third base coach in 2014, as well as being responsible for the infielders and assist August on the offensive game plan. While his on-field success is noteworthy, Nowell’s passion for teaching the game stands out most. His daily approach to the proper way to play baseball continues to motivate both current and former players, as well as the coaches who have worked with him. His competitiveness is contagious, but his respect for the game and his opponents remains paramount. This is clearly evidenced in his players, on the youth, high school, and collegiate levels. Currently, Nowell is the director of the Delaware Sabres Youth Baseball Organization, and has spent time working with the Delaware Vets/Newark and Delaware Diamonds associations. He resides in Newark with his wife Megan, along with their three children Austin (18), Brock (15), and Camryn (12).
