The mission of The American Legion, Department of Wisconsin is to provide service to veterans, their families and their communities.

In Memoriam Past National Vice Commander and Past Department Commander David A. Korth of Marshfield Post No. 54 passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, August 19th. David earned the right to join The American Legion through his service in the U. S. Navy from 1961 to 1965 during the Vietnam Era and was a Paid Up For Life member with 40 continuous years of service to the Department. PDC Korth served as a National Vice Commander during the 200708 membership year and previously served on the National Executive Committee. He served as the Alternate to the NEC as well. David served as the Department of Wisconsin Commander during the 1994–95 membership year, was a Department Vice Commander in

1993-94, a Department Historian, Chairman of the Department Legislative Committee and held numerous other positions at the Post, County, District and Department levels. David has further served the Department of Wisconsin on the Department Adjutant Search Committee on 2 different occasions, on the Department Headquarters Search Committee, as Department Interim Office Manager. He also served the National American Legion as Vice Chairman of the National Security Council, Vice Chairman of the National Foreign Relations Council, Chairman of the National Foreign Relations Council, as a member of the National Foreign Relations Commission, NEC Liaison to Internal Affairs, Chairman NEC Liaison Committee to Foreign Relations and as

Korth retired from GTE/ Verizon and is survived by his wife Diane, a son David Korth of Belleview, FL; a daughter, Denise Korth-Drechsler of Wisconsin Rapids; his beloved grandchildren, Riley Drechsler, Skyler Drechsler and Davey Korth; and his brother Roger (Carol) Korth.
