LEE STRONCEK

A native of Minnesota, Lee Stroncek arrived at his painting career as many others have: the spark of adolescent creativity is kindled and nurtured by parental support, hard work and determination. Stroncek’s lifelong obsession with natural history and the outdoor experience led him to begin his formal education with a study of wildlife and fisheries biology at the Universities of Montana and Alaska. However, desiring to express himself creatively, Stroncek continued his studies at Colorado State University focusing on fine art.

With his classic artistic training and believable fishing scenarios, Mark A. Susinno catches the angler’s world from every perspective. Growing up around the Washington, DC area, “wildlife” had a different meaning for one of today’s most popular nature artists, Mark A. Susinno. Deer, pheasant and mallards were not found right in his backyard and he was not as familiar with outdoor adventuring as many of today’s nature artists. In fact, it was not until later in life when Susinno found his passion for angling that he began to feature wildlife and nature in his art.

LEE KROMSCHROEDER

Lee Kromschroeder has been creating worlds on canvas since he was four. Many of these early paintings reflected the interests of other children growing up in Southern California, the ocean before him, the mountains nearby and, of course, rocket ships. But these typical subjects were supplemented with something more. David’s memories of childhood consisted of exploring the woods behind a single wide mobile home, where his Mother raised him by herself. Sneaking up on frogs and talking to dragonflies were how he spent his days. There was the occasional armadillo scurrying across the prairie or mama deer with fawn foraging for acorns on the Florida sand. This inability to sit still and a love for animals is what began his journey through art.

“On our honeymoon we visited Yosemite National Park during the warm sunny days of July. This refreshing scene is along the Merced River which runs through Yosemite Valley. I chose to emphasize the calm cooler hues of the crystal clear water and the pines against the stark mountain background. My challenge was to capture the reflections of the trees and rocks in the flowing river as well as the rocky river bottom visible through the shallow water, thus expressing the peacefulness which engulfed me. “
