2021 Junior Activity Days

With the cancellation of the 2021 Junior Holstein Convention, the Junior Activities Committee decided to host a Junior Activity Day in each of the four JAC Districts with the intent of having Dairy Bowl competitions, recognizing our junior award winners and meeting with junior members for an open forum and JAC elections. Thank you to the volunteers that helped at each of the Junior Activity Days to make our Dairy Bowl contests a success! The State Finals for Dairy Bowl and Dairy Jeopardy will be held Sunday, April 25 in Marshfield with the winning teams and individuals qualifying to represent Wisconsin at the National Holstein Convention. Northwest District

The Northwest Activity Day was held Sunday, March 14 in Colby. Teams from Wood, Clark and Polk counties gathered for Dairy Bowl. The Wood County team won the junior contest, remaining undefeated and moving on to the state finals. Team members include Maddy and Grace Hensel and Wyatt and Sara Dorshorst. Finishing the senior contest as the undefeated team was Polk County, made up of Grace and Marie Haase, Courtney Glenna and Katherine Elwood. All Dairy Bowl competitors were eligible to qualify for the state finals in Dairy Jeopardy. Those in each age division earning the most points in two rounds were selected as qualifiers for Dairy Jeopardy. For the Northwest, Ella Raatz of Clark County and Wyatt Dorshorst qualified in the junior division, Maddy Hensel and Sara Dorshorst in the intermediate division, and Courtney Glenna and Marie Haase in the senior division. Following the Dairy Bowl rounds, NW JAC members Hannah Nelson and Emma Dorshorst recognized award winners from the District. Courtney Glenna received a DJM award and placed first in the senior essay contest. Ella Raatz received a 12 & Under Recognition Award.

Southwest District

The Southwest Activity Day was held Saturday, March 20 in Viroqua. Coming out on top of the five teams in the junior division of Dairy Bowl was the Grant County team of Christina and Kayla Buttles and Wesley and Matthew Winch. Winning the senior division was the Richland County team of Logan Turgasen, Calli Storms, Rachel Durst and Kaelyn Weigel. Dairy Jeopardy qualifiers included Christina Buttles and Matthew Winch for the junior division, Rachel Durst and Lily Jenson of Iowa County for the intermediate division, and Tommy Jones of Vernon County and Randy Winch of Grant County in the senior division. SW JAC Nathan Daniels handed out awards with Ainsley Noble of Grant County and Hannah Hockerman of the District 5 Juniors receiving DJM awards from the SW District. Makenna Gilbertson, Iowa County, and Kayla Buttles received 12 & Under Recognition Awards. Christina Buttles received Long Range Production awards for three cows and Junior Progressive Breeder awards for three cows.
