For instance guided tours in the Royal Castle or City Hall, the opening of a hugely expanded Natural History Museum in Oslo’s Botanical Gardens, and the opening of the brand new National Museum after a three-and-ahalf year wait! Enjoy! Team What’s On Oslo

There are also plenty of brilliant museums to visit all over town, and our indispensable Museum List lets you know what those museums are offering in May and June.

IS EASY Welcome to What’s On Oslo in May and June, when summer arrives and the living, in the immortal words of Ella Fitzgerald, is easy. May is a special time of year; one where the people of Oslo feel both energized by springtime and exited by the beginning of the short but intense Norwegian summer. In May the cultural life of Oslo has also begun a major thaw, with increasing numbers of concerts, exhibitions, festivals, and other events large and small all over town. This continues in June, by which time summer Oslo has truly arrived and filled up parks and beaches in and near the city centre, on the Bygdøy peninsula, at lake Sognsvann, and on the local islands Langøyene, Hovedøya and Gressholmen. And this year all the cultural events happening in town in May and June will feel extra special, after two years of pandemic lockdowns and restrictions. One of the biggest events in May happens on May 17th, which is Norway’s Constitution Day. Oslo has the biggest celebrations in the country, with a huge children’s parade in the city centre - happening for the first time in three years after the pande mic - so do get out there and enjoy the day if you’re in town.
