Jensen nominates two businesses to NYS Historic Business Preservation Registry Assemblyman Josh Jensen (R,C,I-Greece) announced that two businesses from the 134th District have been added to the NYS Historic Business Preservation Registry. Jensen successfully nominated VanPutte Gardens and Jackson’s Bakery both of which are staples of the community in the town of Greece.

This program, administered by the Office of Parks, Recreation & Historic Preservation, recognizes businesses that have been in business for at least 50 years and have contributed to the community’s history. The program also provides educational and promotional assistance to ensure continued success by recognizing their significance

to the community and eligibility for tax credits, including state and federal commercial historic rehabilitation tax credits. “I am pleased to announce both businesses have been added to the Historic Business Preservation Registry where they can continue to thrive for many more years to come. As a lifelong resident of the town of Greece, my family and many others across our community, have long relied on Jackson’s Bakery and VanPutte Gardens for their bakery and garden center needs. I am honored to nominate these exceptional businesses and help celebrate their historic impact to the community I call home,” said Jensen. “The VanPutte family is beyond honored to have been added to the Historic Business Preservation Registry. This designation makes us proud,” said Kyle VanPutte, president of VanPutte Gardens. “Not only for the hard work our family and employees have put in, but we’re also proud of the Greece community as a whole for their continued support of the VanPutte brand over the past 74 years. I would like to give a special thank you to our great Assemblyman, Josh Jensen, for nominating VanPutte Gardens,” VanPutte added. “Jackson’s has always been known for its baked goods. We cannot forget the lineage of great bakeries and the few still remaining. Preserving the tradition of baking will be carried out at Jackson’s Bakery,” said Matt Belk, owner of Jackson’s Bakery. Coalition for Crime Victims of Monroe County remembers all victims of crime Coalition for Crime Victims of Monroe County is dedicated to helping crime survivors find their justice by enforcing victims’ rights, expanding access to services, and ensuring equity and inclusion for all. The term “victim” is more than just a label and has legal standing and protections that go along with it. Victim service providers, advocates, law enforcement officers, attorneys, and other allied professionals can help survivors find their justice by enforcing these rights. Equity and

inclusion are fundamental prerequisites to survivor care and survivor-led services. These services provide victims with opportunities to share their experiences and essential blueprints for support. Offering every victim of crime assistance opens up more options for facilitating healing and empowerment to direct their own recovery. “While the names of perpetrators often make news headlines, we mustn’t forget the victims and survivors of crimes who may experience trauma for the rest of their lives,” said

Monroe County Executive Adam Bello. “Thank you to the Coalition for Crime Victims of Monroe County for all they do to help victims and survivors of crimes, ensuring they get the help and support they deserve.” For information on how to support victims of crime, visit OVC’s website at www.ovc.ojp.gov.
