WENDOVER DEMENTIA SUPPORT

The Monday Club Café is Open

Wendover Dementia Support is a charity set up in 2019 to provide a support service to those living around Wendover who have a diagnosis of dementia and their families. It provides a support group for family carers, a home visit service and a regular Monday café. It was given the Community award for work during the lockdown supporting families with home activities.

The Monday Club café reopened in August after many months of closure due to the pandemic. Prior to closure the café had operated for 40 weeks supporting some 25 families. It is meeting again every Monday morning at Wendover Christian Centre where the numbers have doubled. Staffed by volunteers, the café is designed to provide an opportunity for people with dementia and their carers to come, take part in a variety of activities and socialise with others in the same position. There is also the opportunity at the café for carers to discuss any concerns with a trained advisor.

Who can benefit from the service?

Any person who has a diagnosis of dementia and their family and is also registered with Westongrove GP partnership - Wendover Health Centre, Bedgrove Surgery and Aston Clinton surgery.
