Intergen’s IT Young Achievers

The graduates that WelTec produces with advanced applied ICT skills is exactly what we are looking for at Intergen

WelTec students gain recognition from IT solutions company WelTec has partnered with IT employers so you can gain work experience whilst studying. Intergen is one of New Zealand’s largest and longest serving dedicated providers of Microsoft-based IT solutions. The company is one of WelTec’s many industry partners who are committed to helping students land real jobs. The Intergen 2016 Young Achievers Award winners are John Frederikson and Jonah Jackson, who are majoring in programming, and Roxanne Shirtcliffe, who is completing a double major in programming and software engineering.

Simon Bright, Intergen’s CEO, thinks new graduates re-vitalise the workforce with fresh ideas and new approaches to business. Intergen has a strong graduate recruitment programme, which introduces young people to the industry and helps transform great students into great employees. 22 graduates were employed by Intergen in their 2016 intake and the company plans to take on 25 more graduates in January 2017. “The graduates that WelTec produces with advanced applied ICT skills is exactly what we are looking for at Intergen” says Simon. The Young Achiever Award is one component of the partnership between Intergen and WelTec’s School of Business and IT to address the skills shortage in the IT industry. ICT is a key driver of Wellington’s economy. WelTec are playing their part by developing talented graduates that are highly sought after in industry.

Roxanne decided to follow in her Dad’s footsteps and pursue a career in IT. Whilst studying at WelTec, Roxanne progressed from a level 4 Certificate in Computing to the Bachelor’s degree.
