From The Editor

Wellness Woman 40 and Beyond E-Magazine I have to say that my quest to live a “Golden Life” started when I first heard award-winning songstress, Jill Sco@ sing these words: I’m taking my freedom, pulling it off the shelf Pu9ng it on my chain, wearing it around my neck I'm taking my freedom, pu9ng it in my car Wherever I choose to go it will take me far I'm taking my own freedom, pu9ng it in my song singing loud and strong, groovin all day long I'm taking my own freedom, pu9ng it in my stroll I'll be high stepping y'all, le9ng the joy unfold I'm holdin on to my freedom, can't take it from me I was born into it, it comes naturally I'm strumming my own freedom in the god in me reverence in his glory, hope he proud of me I'm living my life like its golden

It is my hope that this issue puts the idea of living a golden life of freedom, with great expectaOons, self-love, and ulOmate joy on the front burner of you life. Enjoy your Golden Life,

**Songwriters: Anthony Bell / Jill Sco@ / James Robinson / Harold Robinson

As we begin to experience our golden mid-life journey , many of us feel it’s now or never when it comes to living our best life now. The arOcles in this issue put a spotlight on ways to live your golden life. Whether it’s a color you were, a food you eat, or the way you encode the world, living YOUR life like it’s golden, is all about enhanced self-care and self-love. 10 Golden Ways To Enhance Your Mind, Body, Spirit Connection in Mid-Life By Lynnis Woods-Mullins, CHHC, CLC, CPI I have discovered in mid-life the importance of self-care and doing those things that are necessary to increase my mind, body, spirit connecOon. I have learned that if I am not feeling well in my spirit, it impacts my body and my mind. If I am not well in my body, my spirit and mind suer. The reality is that we need to strive to be well in our mind, body, and spirit. Here are a few ways to help you connect more with your mind, body, and spirit. By pracOcing these holisOc steps, you check in with yourself, make the necessary adjustments, and conOnue to nurture that mind, body, and spirit connecOon.

Walk It O Adding a quick walk to your day can help relieve that holiday stress. Gecng

can go a long way to ulOmately increase your “upOme.”

Move Your Body

outside in nature and taking a brisk walk does wonders for alleviaOng stress. Try taking a quick 15-minute walk to energize you and boost your mood.

Restore and Reenergize Your Body Needs some extra energy? Drink a green smoothie, it will give your body the muchneeded nutrients you need to stay healthy especially during busy Omes. Click here for a free great green smoothie cookbook.

Visualize Your Vision

We are not stuck figures. Our bodies were created to move ….so MOVE. Stress can really cause your body to sOffen up. It is important to stretch during the day. Get up and exercise at your desk. Don’t allow yourself to sit longer than 20 minutes without standing up and stretching. Look for opportuniOes for movement throughout your day. The feel-good hormones start going and you start feeling great!

Gravitate Toward GraPtude There are many things for which to be thankful. Write a thank you note to a co-worker, neighbor or friend. It feels great to show someone else appreciaOon. Doing something kind for someone else is a great way to usher in more kindness, gratefulness, and thankfulness in your world and the world overall.

It’s important that we take the Ome to visualize how we want our lives to be. Learn The Art of Saying No

The buzzing and incessant ringing of cell phones cause stress. It is okay to change your noOficaOons, you don't need to know every Ome someone posted on Facebook or Twi@er. Also, change the ringtones to silent for some of your other alerts. All these alerts on our phone keep us in a mode of fight or fright. Each Ome one of those alerts/ noOficaOons go off our adrenaline starts going. Give yourself a break and turn off those alerts/noOficaOons.

Many requests are made of us...someOmes too many. It really is okay to say "no". We all have limitaOons and trying to meet everyone's needs and expectaOons can cause a great deal of stress. Remember that you need to first take care of you and then take care of everyone else. Start saying "no " to those requests you know you can't do.

Laughter Don't forget to take the Ome to laugh!. Laughter gets the feel-good hormones going and is good for your health. Take the Ome to

Keisha Dixon Manifester, Encourager, Fearless There are Omes in your life when the universe rises and conspires to bless you abundantly in those areas of your life that are in need. That is what happened when I first met Keisha Dixon; talk about something being “pre-ordained”! Keisha and I had much in common, but more importantly we took the opportunity to help each other grow in areas of our lives where we needed the growth. Although we had not known each other long, there was an immediate trust factor. It was that trust factor that allowed Keisha to speak into my life with her wonderful gim of Tapping. While working with Keisha I doubled my income in less than a month! Keisha has an amazing gim of speaking into a woman’s life and helping her to increase her abundance and prosperity. Her opOmism is contagious. Her knowledge in the field of tapping is impressive. Her ability to take a negaOve situaOon and turn it into an opportunity for growth and posiOve outcomes is awesome. This mother of six, and grandmother to 3, is truly a Wellness Woman because she believes in seizing the opportuniOes put before her and using them to enhance the wellness of her mind, body and spirit.

What key advice can you give to women about the beauty of aging? Over the last couple of years, I have made it my mo@o and mission to live my life poured out. For me that means not leaving any of the gims, the uniqueness, the passion and even the service I

have inside of me, bo@led up inside me. So I have allowed the bricks that guarded and protected my heart to crumble as I speak my truth, powerfully love and seek to understand myself and others. I have also finally found, amer 50 years, that the fully appreciaOng your beauty, every aspect, including your perceived imperfecOons, enhances your beauty at a cellular level and radiates from the inside out.

How do you stay inspired and moPvated to live a life that is thriving?

mother's bu@ got there! I couldn’t overcome it unOl I looked at it head on. I hired a holisOc nutriOonist, Lynnis Woods-Mullins, to guide me through weight release, and, I omen stand naked in front a mirror and thank my naked body, bu@ included, for all the beauty it holds, and the places we have gone.

What is it about your life that you feel is "Golden"?

My love is golden. My children and their children are golden. But most importantly, my freedom to express myself, even those messy emoOons, like sadness or anger makes my life more To stay inspired and moOvated I pracOce emoOonal freedom technique ('tapping') to deregu- golden than I could have ever imagined! And late stress from my life and get my eyes on limit- every ounce of it has been magic and a miracle, ing beliefs that I've adopted over Ome, and then even those parts that seem not to have an ounce of divinity in it. Because even the messy I let those beliefs go. I forgive (myself and others) on a daily basis and surround myself with a sides, the darker Omes have given me incredible evidence that I am stronger and smarter circle of supporOve and encouraging friends. I than I could have even imagined. pracOce intenOonality and graOtude every day!

How do you deal with society try- What is your definiPon of a Wellness Woman? ing to put you in a box because of our age? 20 Intentions to Set for The New Year!

By Lynnis Woods-Mullins, CHHC, CLC, CPI As we move into the New Year, many of us are mindful of the idea of making some changes in our lives that will bring more wellness, peace, and joy. While goals and objecOves are very speciďŹ c and generally reachable, intenOons are more wide-sweeping and may require a "stretch" to get there. A goal is what we want to do, and an intenOon is how we want things to be. Secng intenOons helps you to think in more posiOve terms about the things you want to accomplish. It moves you more into possibility thinking beyond what you normally will accomplish. I have recently started secng intenOons for the beginning of the day and then reviewing what happened at the end of the day. The results have been wonderful! Here are some intenOons you may want to set for your day/life. These intenOons have helped move me into a space where I have more peace and joy in my life. Secng intenOons has certainly made a dierence in my life!

• Try a new hobby - I was at a bookstore and came across the adult coloring secOon. I haven't colored since I was in elementary school but something about the color books, I saw really grabbed my interest. I gave it a try and I loved it. Coloring is now my official hobby. I haven't really had a "hobby" in years. It brings me great joy. • Tell yourself a new story - I decided that I would stop telling myself the same old story about how much I need to improve, how often I have fallen short, and a bunch of other untrue (in most cases) negaOve stuff. Instead, I started thinking of nice things to say to myself that are true. I recap my day and tell myself what went well rather than focus on what did not go well. I focus on what is thriving in my life. I celebrate my successes (even the small ones) during the course of my day. Try doing this on a regular basis – every day. It will not only take the edge off your day, but it will begin to change your overall outlook on life to a more posiOve and producOve one.

and then finally you decide to face that thing you fear, AND it wasn't nearly as bad as you feared. Allow yourself to be vulnerable and discover the courage you already have within you to get through ANYTHING. • Take the Time to Appreciate the LiZle Things - we have moments in front of us every day that are glimpses of joy and happiness. We very rarely think about it but when they are gone, we realize how much we missed. Just the other day I saw a Humming Bird outside my window. It was so beauOful to just take the Ome to look at the beauty God has created. It gave me a sense of joy. Appreciate the li@le things, revel in the small joys of life. You will be emoOonally richer as a result.

• Reinvent PlayPme - When was the last Ome you actually "played” - basically Ome spent without any purpose. That is the definiOon of play by Brene Brown. It's okay NOT to accomplish something every hour of the day. It's okay to just sit and think, read a great book, watch a funny movie, grab a • Increase Your Vulnerability - move forward friend and go shopping, do karaoke with a this New Year with the idea that you are gogroup of your buddies, or be@er yet ...just be ing to increase your courage and "do it with and do nothing at all. Allow yourself to be fear" (that thing you are afraid of, or have happy, feel joy, dance and laugh! put off) anyway. I have found that many • Learn How To Be Calm - Being calm truly is Omes the things we fear and run away from a pracOce. PracOce asking yourself "Do I are never as bad as we think they are going have enough informaOon to be freaking out to be. I am sure you have experienced this. right now?" "Am I overreacOng a tad bit?" You have a fear of something, you don't do it

You will find approaching things first with a few deep breaths before you respond goes a long way to staying calm. At this stage in our lives, we really don't have to do "drama" anymore. We have the life experience and wisdom to stay calm and to first assess a situaOon before we react. Taking a calm approach to life is much more pleasant and less chaoOc. • Let Go of Cool - At mid-life we really need to stop trying to be cool. We should be way past trying to be "cool" and keep up with "the latest fad". It is really Ome to be ourselves and enjoy being ourselves. Who cares if we laugh too loud, dance too crazy, or just be our true authenOc self. Being cool is like wearing what Brene Brown calls an ” emo-

Oonal straight jacket". We don't need to be "cool" because who we are as we are is enough! • Stop Shaming Yourself - it's Ome to throw out the "shame marinade” It’s really starOng to smell. You must realize that re-living those parts of your life that make you feel bad about yourself is not construcOve and does not serve you. Shaming yourself is truly deadly to the spirit. Get your "shame" out in the open, talk about it, get it out of your system, shed light on your "shame". Choose someone you trust to talk about your shame. I recently did this with an old friend and it was such a release to get it out. I no longer feel the same sadness and shame I once felt about the situaOon. I have finally re-

--------Advertisement--------

leased it. Once you shed the light on your shame it will not survive. Bringing your shame to the light and talking about it takes away the power it holds over you. Talking about it frees you and removes that negaOve self-talk and negaOve stories you tell yourself. Talking about your shame is healing to your spirit. • Watch Your Words - The words we speak are powerful. They carry with them posiOve and negaOve energies. Choosing words that are upliming, posiOve, and affirming are the words you want to focus on using. We want to stay away from using words that are negaOve and destrucOve to our spirits. You will be

surprised at how much be@er you feel when you start using words that are more posiOveespecially when referring to yourself and loved ones. When I start to say something negaOve, I now catch myself and stop. Instead, I take a breath and change my wording, or I say nothing at all. SomeOmes saying nothing is just as powerful as a barrage of negaOve words. • Surround Yourself with PosiPve People - An important part of staying uplimed is taking a look at the people in your life. Do they support your goals and dreams? Do they speak to you in a posiOve and affirming way? Or, do they always seem to be tearing you

down or tearing someone else down? Are they always dwelling on what is not right with their lives or yours? At Omes, we need to do an assessment of who is adding posiOve value to our life. and who is creaOng negaOvity in our lives. This doesn't mean that you remove people from your life who are negaOve, but it does mean it will help you make be@er choices of who you want to be around when you need to be uplimed and supported. • Celebrate You and Your Successes - It’s okay and healthy to celebrate you and your achievements. Many Omes, people in our lives don't know what the successes are in your life unless you tell them. We might tell them about the bigger successes, but we may not always share the smaller successes. The point is regardless of the size of your success and/or achievement recognize it! Do something special for yourself, share your success with a friend who will be just as happy for you as you are for yourself. Take

Ome to recognize something posiOve that has happening in your life! • Admit to Yourself Your Faults and Love Yourself Anyway - We are not perfect. We all have faults. We all have things we need to work on. We are a work in progress. Given that, while we are working on those faults, it is healthy to love yourself anyway. There are many good things about you that are loveable and good. Remember those things whenever you start to beat up on yourself. If you need to be reminded, write down the posiOve things about yourself and put them where you can see them every day. I have found that an important part of emoOonal wellness is to acknowledge what you love about you! • Take More Time to Be Present - there is so much we miss in our daily lives because we are constantly distracted. Because of these distracOons, we miss the gim of being present and truly experiencing the fullness and goodness of life. Check in with yourself during the day and ask yourself "Am I really engaged in the moment?”, “Am I living life to its fullest?" "Am I seeking the joy in the moment?" When I am asking myself those quesOons it reminds me to stay present and not miss the joy that is happening at that moment. • Look for That Breakthrough Moment - By the Ome you get to mid-life you have had

many 'breakthroughs". At this stage of the game, we need to start EXPECTING breakthroughs. We need to start anOcipaOng the "ah-ha" moment. I can recall Omes when I was Ored and just "done" with whatever the challenge was at the Ome. I decided at those Omes to turn it all over to God. Once I did, suddenly a soluOon was found, or an unexpected breakthrough appeared. Seek that breakthrough moment in all challenging situaOons. It is there, and the breakthrough will happen at the appointed Ome! • Get Rid of The Need to Please Disease - More than likely at some Ome in your life you suffered the “need to please” disease. The need to be liked, the need to make everyone happy, the need to be loved etc... If you sOll suffer from this "disease" just remember that it is impossible to please

everyone. There will always be a person who is unhappy or displeased with you. This situaOon is part of the human condiOon and it doesn’t have to consume you unOl it impacts your emoOonal wellness. Get healed from “the need to please disease” and experience the joy of life without feeling the need to please everyone. • PracPce Self Compassion - We are so tough on ourselves. We are our toughest criOcs, and someOmes we are unforgiving of ourselves. We replay our mistakes, our failures, our falling short of expectaOons and so on. You have compassion for others. Have a bit of compassion for yourself. Love yourself through life. You are not perfect, you already know you will make mistakes. Stop taking yourself through the wringer. Learn from those life experiences that may

--------Advertisement--------

have been difficult, find the wisdom and good you learned. Then move forward toward all the good life sOll has for you. Learn to love yourself uncondiOonally. • Revel in Your Wisdom - You are WISE! You have the benefit of having lived more than half your life! You have within you everything you need to pursue the dreams you have yet to pursue. You are ready. You can do it. Your wisdom, intuiOon (that inner voice) and your cando actude will lead you to great accomplishments in your life. Your life experience is valuable in pursuing your dreams. It is never too late. Move forward and go for it! • Pray, Meditate and Pray Some More - Prayer and meditaOon is something that is a very personal act. In fact, I start each day with a prayer and meditaOon. Through my prayer and meditaOon, I am truly learning to spiritually surrender. To "let go and let God". MeditaOon has taught me how to sOll my spirit and to just listen to that inner voice, that voice that always leads me to the right path. Prayer gives you an opportunity to restore, renew, and revitalize your spirit. MeditaOon is an opportunity to enter a space of peace and reflecOon. Both are an important part of your wellness --------Advertisement--------

Awaken the Power

of Personal Creation By Mary Shores Have you ever felt the unease of knowing you could do more, but you feel stuck? Feeling like something is limiOng you? The mind is your ULTIMATE power and I promise you CAN awaken this GIANT. As soon as you are willing to see that your mindset controls everything, you can change anything. You can go from feeling lost and stuck to harnessing the power of your greatest of possibiliOes. And here’s how…. Pivot any ONE of these powers and the rest will follow!

The Power of VISION If you are going to succeed at anything in life you MUST know your outcome, then you absolutely must get laser focused on that outcome. Having vision is determining with complete clarity where you want to be, your mission, and the steps it takes to get there. When you are pracOcing the power of Vision, you are developing the muscle of end result thinking. This happens because you will immediately begin to see what takes you either closer to, or farther from, your desired end result.

The Power of FOCUS What you focus on grows. Your focus is like your flashlight that you are illuminaOng and put your mental momentum towards. To begin to control your focus, consider the kinds of things you are currently shining your flashlight on. The bo@om line is always focus on the soluOon more than the problem.

The Power of BELIEF When you change your internal beliefs so they align with your VISION, you will 10x your POWER. Your beliefs about yourself are what determine how you feel about yourself. You are the only one who can change that in order to truly recover and thrive.

The Power of AUTHENTICITY

Tapping into the truest part of yourself is like The Power of CHOICE pucng your inner SUPERHERO in charge. AuthenOcity is the pracOce of choosing Harness unstoppable power when you learn moment-to-moment how you portray yourto make choices that connect to your vision. self in the world. Welent outcomes. Choices affect every single mocome the real you; get to know yourself and ment of every single day. You are the archiyour desires. tect, and every decision closes some doors and opens others.

The Power of WORDS The words you use when you talk to yourselves and others have an enormous impact on your life. What you have to do is be deliberate about the words you speak because you speak your reality into existence. The more you do this, the more you will start making decisions that will make it true, decisions in direct alignment with what you.

The Power of MINDSET

Having a GROWTH mindset creates massive opportunity, even out of every MISTAKE. Using your personal power definitely includes understanding how much growth is achieved every Ome you break through your breakpoint. When you hit the wall of failure, mistake, or even a general “I can’t”, plug into the most empowering thought you can think of. Your greatest manifestaOons are created outside of your comfort zone.

The Power of ACTION You are only as POWERFUL as the acOon you are willing to take. Put your DREAMS in charge and not your FEARS. It's fear that holds you back. I'm talking about when you absolutely want something, know it will work, know you can do it and can hold the vision but do NOTHING. If you can take acOon (even something small) you can break through your overwhelming selfdoubt.

The Power of MASTERY Learn a skill inside, outside, backwards and forwards unOl you can EXECUTE without eort! Believe you can achieve something more outrageous than you ever thought possible, unfold that inspiraOon to learn something new that will support your vision, allow this newly tapped source of educaOon to ďŹ nd its way into your daily pracOces, and you will DO things you never thought possible. Freedom is Golden By Mary Fran Bontempo Lately, I’ve encountered more than a few recommendaOons to “live life like it’s golden,” which, thankfully, doesn’t seem directly connected to life in one’s “golden years,” because I’m not ready for THAT, yet. Life in the golden years conjures images in my mind of those ads in magazines (and yes, the fact that I sOll read magazines may put me in the golden years category) where several grayhaired elders are grouped around a communal table smiling and raising glasses of iced tea in a toast to the fimy-five and older community they’ve just signed up to live in where their days will be filled with games of shuffleboard, cards, and dinner at 4:30. Good lord, kill me. Okay, that’s a bit dramaOc, but first, none of those places houses anyone remotely close to fimy-five (it’s more like seventy-five), I will never eat dinner at 4:30 and if I were in a place like that at fimy-five, I’d be drinking straight out of one of those big boxes of wine that has my name on it. Iced tea? Please.

Don’t get me wrong; the day will likely come when I’ll welcome the opportunity to sit around raising a glass while someone else takes care of the house, cooks for me, and announces on a loud speaker that it’s Ome for the shuffleboard championships. The glass will be a pitcher filled with wine, but sOll. UnOl it does, however, I’d rather focus on living my current life like it’s golden, even though I’m not exactly sure what that means. In those same magazines, I’ve read mulOple arOcles about inspiring women of a certain age doing equally inspiring things, ranging from building schools in third-world countries, to starOng mulO-million-dollar businesses, to studying with the Dalai Lama in Tibet. Sigh. Not only am I none of those women, they kind of exhaust me, even though all I’m doing is reading about them. I admire their energy, but my goal for living my life like it’s golden is far simpler and can be summed up in a phrase: Not my problem. Don’t get me wrong, I’m not an isolaOonist. I believe in a global community and our individual responsibility to the same. Rather, I refer to issues closer to home. My home, to be exact. My kids, ages thirty-three, thirty-one and twenty-eight, are all successfully launched— to a degree. They are at least launched enough that all of them have spouses who now serve as a first line of defense between them and me. In other words, the kids go to

someone else with their issues before coming to me. Mommy is no longer in charge. For a control freak (I once bought a sign that said, “I’m not a control freak, but can I show you the right way to do that?”) passing the baton to someone else should be no easy task, especially where one’s children are involved. Or so you might think. In reality, ceding control, or what passes for it in my world, has proven liberaOng beyond measure. DenOst appointments need to be made? Not my problem. Car inspecOon overdue? Not my problem. Out of diapers? Not my problem. (Not yet, anyway; Dave and I haven’t quite reached the Depends stage.) Someone can’t find a lem shoe? Not my problem. “Mom, what’s for dinner?” NOT MY PROBLEM!!!! Wooooooo!!!!! To clarify, I’m sOll handling much of the above for my husband, again, aside from the diapers, but he pre@y much does what I tell him without argument, so that’s kind of a nobrainer. But not having to do any of it for the kids? I’m Mel Gibson in Braveheart—FREEEEEEEEDOM!!!! I have more Ome, more energy (though not enough to build a school,) more space inside of my head. All of which leads to more opportuniOes to explore, learn, do, or just rest, if I want to, without worrying that I’m dropping the ball and forgecng to pick up someone at a piano lesson. Not that I ever did that. More than once. I’ll always be there for my kids, but the freedom to let them, and their spouses, God love

them, handle the minuOae of their own lives, gives me the opportunity to discover what my golden life is, whatever that may mean. I’m willing to let it evolve, because I’ve learned that some of the best things don’t come from a plan. They come from being open to experiences, ideas, and joy. And not being responsible for finding someone’s lem shoe seems like a pre@y good place to start. FINANCIAL WELLNESS...IT'S NOT TOO LATE! There is a wise saying that many have heard or will hear at least once in their lifeOme. They saying is, "What is wealth without good health?". This is a profound statement because poor health has the potenOal to negaOvely impact our level of wealth and the lack of wealth can determine the quality of our health. We only need to log onto the Go Fund Me website to read the unfortunate situaOons that many people find themselves in today because of a lack of wealth and poor health. So...your quesOon might be, "Well, what can be done about that?". Before offering a soluOon let's take a look at the data regarding women over the age of 40 and how well prepared they are for life's unexpected twists and turns that can greatly impact their wellness. Research by JP Morgan says that at the age of 40 a couple should have amassed savings that is 2.6 Omes their salary. Therefore, a couple with a $100K annual income should have at least a $260K nest egg saved somewhere. Hey, that research isn't even addressing the woman who is divorced, widowed, or single and living on one income. According to a 2017 survey by GoBankingRates, 57% of Americans have less than $1000 in their bank accounts. Houston...we have a problem! Now for the soluOon. Anyone, regardless of age, gender, race etc. who has not been thrown a good ball in the game of financial wellness now has a golden opportunity to play catch up with a new innovaOve industry that is leveling the playing field. What do you know about cryptocurrency? Have you heard these words before...bitcoin, blockchain, hodl, Ethereum, Exodus? There is a way to get educated about them and how you can be a part of the "Greatest Transfer of Wealth That is Happening Right Now!". It is a proven fact that what you don't know can hurt you and what you do know can change the quality of your life forever. However, don't panic because you are not alone. Approximately 8% of Americans own bitcoin. So, it is a possibility that you didn't see this coming. Well, if you have CashApp on your phone you will see that one of the currency choices is "bitcoin". Guys, that is a strong clue that we are moving to a digital currency faster than we have been made to believe. Another fact is that 10 of the top universiOes in America today, New York University, Princeton, Harvard, Berkeley, Cornell, Stanford University and more, will be implemenOng cryptocurrency courses in their class offerings. These courses will more than likely cost thousands of dollars. Based on that alone (among other things not menOoned in this arOcle), we can safely state that, "Cryptocurrency is here to stay!" Gecng educated about it and involved in the Crypto Marketplace can be the immediate or long term answer to improving your financial wellness. Right now you may be asking, "Well, how do I do that?". I'm so glad that you asked. I represent a pla~orm that is offering Cryptocurrency educaOon. It is a course that covers everything you need to know to become a game player in the Crypto Space. It is affordable and easy to learn. You will go from Zero to Hero! Here are my final quesOons. Where do you see your financial wellness being in 3 months, 6 months, a year from now? Monique Krehbiel OpPmisPc, EnergePc, Vivacious The first Ome I met Monique I was struck by her beauOful smile and her exoOc look. Monique has an energy level that just takes you in. Her level of enthusiasm is contagious. When we first met we had an immediate connecOon. She is one of those women, that no ma@er what her age you know she will always have this enigmaOc personality that everyone is a@racted to. An entrepreneur, who is passionate about wellness, Monique looks the part of a Wellness Woman. Mother of two, wife, community volunteer, and entrepreneur who carries a sense of opOmism and friendliness to everyone she meets.

What key advice can you give to women about the beauty of aging? The true essence of beauty is being comfortable with who you are, no ma@er what age. Don't let a number define you. The years spent accumulaOng the signs of aging are reminders of a life that has been fully lived. I recommend eaOng well, laughing omen, and exercising regularly. Those are the keys to staying beauOful, regardless of your age.

How do you stay inspired and moPvated to live a life that is thriving?

Helping people is the most rewarding aspect of my life. Whether serving the people less fortunate in my community or raising awareness about fueling our bodies with the right nutriOon, I always aspire to live a life I can be proud of. I try to surround myself with posiOve people and stay connected to influencers like John C. Maxwell who teaches me to take responsibility, do things that make me happy, and be unafraid to fail.

How do you deal with society trying to put you in a box because of your age? Today, adverOsements target women in my age group to think of themselves as undesirable, fragile, and past their prime in life. These ads try to encourage women my age to buy into the latest "miracle" product or diet regimen, which is neither healthy nor credible. I have never let my age define how I feel, and because I've taken care of myself all my life through exercise, good nutriOon, and proper skin care, I like to think I have everyone fooled!

What has been your biggest obstacle during the aging process? How did you overcome it? As a mother, I have spent so much Ome raising my kids that I didn’t noOced how the years have gone by. Although on the inside I feel young, I didn't see the signs of my age unOl I realized my oldest child is 20 years old. For me, prevenOng and hiding wrinkles have been a

challenge. I believe that they're my biggest indicaOon of my age, but I'm thankful for discovering a skincare line that works great for me.

What is your definiPon of a Wellness Woman? I think a Wellness Woman is someone who doesn't listen to the way society says she should look, behave, or feel. A Wellness Woman is unconcerned with how old she is and more interested in taking care of her body and mind through excellent nutriOon, regular exercise, and by helping and empowering others to feel the same. Monique Krehbiel is a distributor for Kyani. You can find out more about the products she sells and especially the skin care line she loves at hFps://fuelurbody.kyani.com/us/en-us/

By Priscilla Elliot What does it mean to live your life like its golden?

Gold is associated with value and worth - it’s precious. When you think of gold in energy terms, it’s about power; the type of power that is gentle and authenOc, as opposed to ego power. What might be stopping you from valuing yourself and really feeling yourself-worth? Do you see yourself as precious and are you in your authenOc power?

Being in your authenOc power means being fully confident with who you truly are; wise, loving, knowing and accepOng yourself fully. You will be truly happy, free and living each day in joy, in the moment…..like its golden.

This golden authenOc power is a loving, gentle power that needs no jusOficaOon and no explanaOon. To live your life with a true sense of self means feeling uncondiOonal love for yourself.

Learning to love yourself is the first big step which means that you start to live your life like

it’s golden. You can choose to do this at any age. Amer all, when we refer to the golden age – we see it as a magical Ome in history, so why can’t it be a magical Ome in your life right now?

Just because you have reached a mid-life point does not mean that you can’t have an awesome life experience; set up a business, a@ract a new partner and be successful in all you do. There are lots of examples of women who come into their authenOc power in mid-life. Be one of them!

especially when what you believe seems true? There are many wonderful tools that are easily accessible to help shim out old limiOng beliefs. Two tools that are powerful is the use of color and EFT (emoOonal freedom technique).

It’s Ome to get to know yourself, walk your walk and talk your talk. Be kind to yourself. Be true to yourself. Love yourself uncondiOonally. Be yourself always. Remember that you can do this at any age. If you are feeling that you are past the point of making big changes in your
life – think again! Amer all, you are changing every day through your interacOons.

Color Use color as a tool and wear the color gold or royal blue / indigo.

EFT

There is no reason that you can’t be a powerful, authenOc, loving, wise, confident and beauOful woman no ma@er how old you are. Live your life honestly with hear~elt communicaOon and soon you will noOce infinite possibiliOes and opportuniOes. You have a choice – so say “yes!” to living your life like it’s golden.

Another alternaOve is to use EFT to make those posiOve changes in your life. EFT stands for “EmoOonal Freedom Techniques” and is a powerful process which involves tapping on certain points around your head and upper body. It’s a bit like acupuncture but without the needles.

If you look on You Tube, you are likely to find videos you can follow on whatever subject you like. If you type in “EFT too old” for example, you are likely to find a whole range of videos to tap along to. I would thoroughly recommend you giving this a try. You are likely to find that you are changing your percepOon of yourself and your life in a ma@er of minutes!

The “Mone<ze Your Mind” Success System He hurt you. Maybe he cheated and stole your trust. He managed to single handedly make you feel less than. Less than him. Or less than her. And he leL and took some things with him. Like the stuff you purchased. Or your good credit. Or your feeling of security. He took your self-assurance and your pride. And nobody really gets it. Nobody knows how much he really took. How could they? Because you did what you do. You sucked it up, put your head down and started working. Pasted a smile on your face and started achieving. Grabbed hold of that camel and dragged it up the hill with more drive then anyone else around you. In spite of him, and everything that he took from you. And the drive manages to keep the yearning for a commi9ed rela, onship at bay, or at least barely recognizable, because your too ,red to really think about it. The only ,me you feel it is when you wake up in the middle of the night, or see tendered eyed couples holding hands. And ever since that day, your money has been really fu&%ed up. But you keep your head down and just keep working, trying hard not to think about it. As if that is possible. Not only have I lived this story, I oLen hear versions of it from my 1:1 clients when we discuss and clear financial traumas. Occasionally, they wonder ‘how did we get here” I thought we were talking about doubling my income? And we are. The two events, the hurt and pain you feel in not having the rela, onship you deserve, and your con, nuous and unsuccessful drive to succeed and obtain more money are entangled. And it isn’t un,l we remove the hidden agenda in this story, that increasing the amount of your financial wealth is obtainable. What’s the hidden agenda in this story? Obtaining money and success to remove the desire for a rela, onship built on mutual trust and respect. Money and success will not remove your desire for a rela, onship, if any part of you has a desire for a rela, onship. You can have your desire for both. More importantly, you can have both. Donna Detwiler Generous, Entrepreneurial, Lover of Life Social Media certainly does have its advantages. I would never have met Donna Detwiler had it not been for Facebook. She contacted me because of an environmentally sound product that she was markeOng. One thing led to another and I asked her to be on one of my shows “The Wellness Journey!” Donna did a great interview. I was struck by her warm personality and intelligence. She is passionate about the danger of toxins in our environment and makes it a priority to educate people on how to live healthier and “greener” lives. Donna also has a giving spirit. Because of an unfortunate incident about 8 years ago my laptop was destroyed. I was just starOng out in my business and did not know how I was going to replace my laptop. Donna heard about the damage to my computer and within a couple of days I had another computer I could use. Donna had sent me her son’s old computer! I could not believe her generosity, but that is the kind of person Donna is. Through the years we have stayed in touch and Donna, a very successful entrepreneur and business developer, is sOll passionate about honoring our environment and removing the toxins in our lives. She is a loving mother, proud of her 3 sons and 26-year marriage. With all that she does, she sOll takes the Ome to be supporOve of other Entrepreneurs and women in general. Donna is a Wellness Woman who has learned how to keep her life in balance while pursuing her dreams and taking care of her wonderful family.

What key advice can you give to women about the beauty of aging? Follow your own truth. Know that with every season, every cycle, there will be smooth periods, challenges, sadness and great joys. The beauty of aging is having certainty on this and having the

ability to look back on the things that you thought would take you down; and yet you survived, thrived and experienced great joys. I’ve found approaching life this way you the insight and inspiraOon to face any challenges and to conOnue to create a purposeful future.

How do you deal with society trying to put you in a box because of your age? Hmmm I don’t think I’ve ever allowed myself to be put in a box. I don’t accept that age is defined by someone else’s percepOon of age, so therefore it is someone’s else's box not mine!

What has been your biggest obstacle during the aging process? How did you overcome it?

and I will always treasure and nourish those friendships. I love to travel and I have been blessed to have travelled extensively since a young girl. I’ve been fortunate enough to have lived in six countries, so far!. Living in 6 countries has given me a perspecOve on people, and opened my eyes to the realizaOon that people are basically good. I realize that we all have dreams, goals, challenges, and people we’ve loved and lost. We all view the world from our own reality…so I learned not to judge - which creates a lot of inner peace. Being able to work doing what I love as an entrepreneur, a journey I began at the age of 19, certainly makes my life Golden. I just don’t think I would have made a good employee!

What is your definiPon of a Wellness Woman?

For me it is my consideraOon on my body. I would sOll like to have the body I had when I was 20. I’ve educated myself to know how to create a body which will age well through nutriOon and physical exercise (I’ve struggled with being consistent with the exercise part), but it is sOll hard for me to accept that my body is never going to be 20 years old again.

We are women, we have struggles, we have challenges, we thrive, we love, we laugh, we get frustrated, we cry, we care, we are protectors, we nourish and we leave a legacy. I think if we can remind ourselves and each other how valuable we all are, and whether loved by many, or a few - we won’t forget that our value is not diminished with age.

What is it about your life that you feel is "Golden"?

I have so much to be grateful for and as I menOoned above, my family makes my life “Golden”. Along with my family, are all the friends I’ve made along the way, all over the world. My friends are very, very special to me

The Joy of Solitary Refinement in Mid-Life

By J. Hope Suis From an early age we are immersed in a belief system that to be ‘whole’, we must be ‘half’ of a duo; join with a partner and forge a relaOonship. Don’t get me wrong, I am a big advocate for a strong, loving bond with another person, but I also recognize that someOmes we go through seasons of being alone. Unfortunately, life can take a turn we never expected, and we find ourselves in unfamiliar territory faced with the reality of having to depend solely on ourselves. OmenOmes we buy into the hype that these occasions are to be suffered through, endured and merely wait for the joy to return. Please do not believe that! Let me show you how to uncover the treasure of simply being single and how to find the joy in what I like to call - Solitary Refinement! What is Solitary Refinement? It is a Ome to openly embrace the opportunity to grow and learn as an individual; to put your needs and your desires to the forefront for a change. It is the possibility to re-discover or even re-invent who you are! Here are some simple Ops to do that using my Single File System.

I love a good filing system; the storage of important informaOon to pull out as needed. I truly believe if you work on your own soul organizaOon filing system, you will uncover wonderful possibiliOes ahead.

The Friendship File There are few things more valuable (and rare) than true friendships. Unfortunately, friends can omen be pushed to the side when we are in a relaOonship due to Ome demands. Now you have the freedom to culOvate and expand your friendship file. Don’t be afraid to reach beyond your current circle. Join clubs, be acOve in your community and be open to forging new connecOons. Be genuine and truly accepOng. The world is full of beauOful people who can occupy a special place in your heart.

The Enrichment File Regardless of your age or educaOon, there is always room for growth and improvement. What a be@er Ome than now to explore the possibiliOes for personal fulfillment and new adventures. Volunteer for an organizaOon that is dear to your heart. Be a part of something bigger than yourself. Find a hobby. Either pick up an old one, or maybe you have recently discovered your love for something new. You can even test your limits. Try something exciOng. Learn a new skill. There is no one holding you back from exploring the world around you. And speaking of exploring, travel! Yes, you can travel alone. You do need to be careful and take precauOons, but do not stop living your life just because you are currently una@ached.

The Dream File This is my personal favorite. Most of us have spent our enOre lives helping other people pursue their dreams. We are supporters, uplimers, encouragers. Let me be one of the first to encourage YOU to pursue your dream. Whatever it is. It really doesn’t ma@er. You don’t have to go through an approval process

or explain it to anyone. I firmly believe we are all born with passions and callings. As women, we omen bury them for fear of looking selfish. Please cast aside that destrucOve thought and fearlessly and passionately chase your dream. My dear friends, I hope you now have the beginnings of a beauOful Single File designed exclusively for you. Never let a ‘single’ status discourage or slow down your life’s pursuits. Absolute happiness starts within us when we make the decision to fully engage life on our own terms. I am truly excited about the possibiliOes of your Solitary Refinement and I trust you to make the most of this Ome and to always... Hope With Abandon! J. Hope Suis is an inspiraDonal writer and relaDonship coach with over 25 years of experience in single-parenDng, daDng, relaDonships, and a phrase she coined as “Solitary Refinement”, which is simply a season of being single to grow and develop as an individual. By Lynnis Woods-Mullins, CHHC, CLC, CPI I have started using Turmeric and I love it. It has some wonderful medicinal qualities, especially for women in midlife. Turmeric has a component in it called Curcumin which is a powerful antioxidant that can fight colon cancer, prevent cystic fibrosis, and help with the aging process. It seems that every day I find out something beneficial about using spices and herbs to help improve my health and overall wellness. Using Turmeric as a part of my daily regime is changing my life for the better. Turmeric should be essential for your mid-life strategy for full life living.

Turmeric can help with: Feeling Emotionally Better - Turmeric can help with depression, anxiety and stress and overall mood swings. It is a great alternative to taking Prozak or some other kind of medication. Fighting Your Fat - Turmeric can help with revving up your metabolism to burn calories and can result in weight loss.

Freeing You from Inflammation - Turmeric helps significantly with inflammation that causes chronic disease like arthritis, and other aches and pains. Flawless Skin - Turmeric can help with blemishes, pimples, acne, and wrinkles. It can also help with uneven skin tones and pigmentation. Fueling Detoxification - Turmeric can help to detoxify the liver and reduce the overall toxicity of the body. Following Your Heart to Health - Turmeric can increase your cardiovascular heart health. Turmeric can help to prevent damaged cell walls, prevent plaque build-up and lower blood pressure, which can cause serious health issues over time. By Dr. Katherine T. Kelly Ph.D., M.S.P.H. To lead a golden life is to lead a soulful life. And there’s nothing more radiant than a woman’s well cared-for soul. Amer working with thousands of psychotherapy clients and workshop parOcipants, I came to realize that although women are evolving in many ways, they sOll struggle to nurture themselves in the process. As a result, I created what I call the “Recipe for Radiance,” a system for mastering the art (and SOUL!) of self-care. You see, self-care IS soul care and although the concept of consciously tending to one’s own well-being is relaOvely new, the trend toward proacOve and well-balanced lifestyle is nothing less than essenOal. In fact, it is the key to both radiant health and conscious evoluOon. If you were a chef, you would take Ome to create beauOful and nourishing meals in a very mindful and intenOonal manner. The same is true for creaOng your personalized “Recipe for Radiance.” In order to master the art of self—or soul care, you must imagine how a golden or radiant life would feel for you. Then, you must consciously choose the self-care behaviors—or “ingredients” that feed, nourish, and restore your soul. Using my Soul Health Model, I assist others in creaOng a combinaOon of self-care acOviOes that will ensure their overall radiance.

There are three components to creaOng your personalized “Soul Soup.” These include: 1) Your “Primary Ingredients” (The “meat, potatoes, and vegetables” or the “staples” of your self-care plan), 2) Your “Broth” (The “fluid” things in life that create healthy conOnuity), and 3) Your “Spices” (The things that “season” your life and make you who you are.)

“The Primary Ingredients” The primary ingredients of your Recipe for Radiance include the “staples” of what you need in order to feel balanced and whole. These acOviOes will, without fail, pull you out of a funk while also bolstering your foundaOon for any unforeseen stressful event(s). These acOons may include those that address basic needs (healthy nutriOon, good sleep, security, etc.), but these ingredients are more specific to YOU in balancing and restoring your life. For example, some of my own “staples” are regular exercise (for stress relief; 4-6 Omes/week), good rest (7-8 hours of sleep/night), Ome to read something non-work related (usually cooking or travel magazines, 1-2 hours/week), exposure to nature (walking through the woods, going to parks, watching wild animals play), and something spiritual (meditaOng, reading, or a@ending an inspiraOonal talk These “ingredients” may suite me, but they may not be included in the list of another’s primary ingredients. To achieve opOmal soul health, you must create your own personalized list of primary ingredients that nourish you in your own unique way. Alone, each acOvity might not seem disOncOve, but in combinaOon, your key ingredients will supply you with the “staples” of individualized self-or soul care. It is this specific blending of ingredients that will nourish the needs of your inner ally.

“The Broth”

Now that you have idenOfied the “staples” of your Recipe for Radiance, it is Ome to explore the more “fluid” parts of life that help to support your personalized “soul soup”. These are the elements that help to keep your life simmering and assist in “blending” your key ingredients. For example, perhaps music is a big part of your life—something that helps to ease stress and rebalance your soul regardless of what is occurring. By simply adding a hearty helping of music to each day, you might noOce an ongoing sense of balance and/or peace that doesn’t occur without this element. One “broth” ingredient that I’ve added to

my own life is lighOng a candle as I ready myself for work. The subtle flame grounds and calms me while also helping me set the intenOon for a soul-filled day. Remember, these acOviOes aren’t necessarily as measurable as your staples (duraOon, frequency, etc.), but without these ingredients, your life wouldn’t feel as “blended” or “fluid.”

“The Spices” The “spices” of life include the acOviOes that tend to set you apart from others—the acOviOes and interests that help to more specifically define who you are. For example, I love things that are whimsical, “different,” and even a bit shocking or curious. I also like buying fun and funky shoes that few others would dare to wear. These elements of my own soul soup help to “season” my life in a unique and fulfilling way. Without these “spices,” my life would not reflect the true essence of who I am. Your personalized seasonings are another part of what feeds your soul—without adding these acOviOes to your life, you would have a rather bland pot of soul soup. Instead, your personal interests add flavor to your life and feed you at a soul level.

Your “Soul Soup”

OpOmal soul care requires the full line of ingredients, not just a few basic fixings. By taking the Ome to idenOfy the key elements of your personal soul-care plan, you will be assured of leading a more nourishing and fulfilling future. A Seasoned Woman’s Guide To Renewing her Essence

By Lynnis Woods-Mullins, CHHC, CLC, CPI I know, I know… who wants to TALK about the need to exercise. This topic has been discussed repeatedly by your friends, your Doctors, your family, on TV, everywhere you look someone is trying to convince you to exercise, get fit, stay fit and so on. The reality is to live a “golden life” one does need to get that body moving. It’s understandable how we became a society of minimal movement and exercise. According to Barbara Moore, Ph.D., president of Shape Up America! In Washington, D.C., a nonprofit organizaOon that help people lose weight for life, 85% of our workforce worked in agricultural -related jobs. Their live were physically demanding and they were moving all the Ome. Today our lives are quite different. We have jobs that are based upon sicng behind a computer, in most cases we don’t move much, maybe from the lunch room, to the coffee room, to the bathroom and back to our office. Since we spend most of our day at a job that in most cases does not require a lot of physical acOvity, it is easy to see how we become more and more unfit over the years. Given that, how do we get inspired and moOvated to get moving? How do we adjust our exercise actude and get excited about more movement and exercise.

Here are a few suggesPons: • Set a goal to move at least 60 minutes a day – It doesn’t have to be all at once, in fact you can break it up in increments. You can try 15 minutes of walking, 10 minutes of housekeeping, 20 minutes of yoga and so on. Walking, raking leaves, cleaning the house, vacuuming, grocery shopping even cooking can burn up to 150 calories. All these acOviOes if done 25 to 30 minutes burn at least 150 calories. Doing a combinaOon of these kinds of acOviOes in the course of your day will burn calories, help you stay fit and feel be@er. • Step up the intensity – Start by simply increasing the intensity of any physical acOvity that you are already doing. For instance, if you normally take the stairs in the course of your day go a li@le faster or choose parking spots further away than you normally do.

The idea is to put a li@le more effort into every acOvity in order to burn more calories • Keep a movement diary – it helps to record when you are moving for a few days. Clock yourself every Ome you walk, clean, garden, climb a flight of stairs or any other acOvity that involves moving the muscles of your arms and legs. At the end of the day see if they add up to 60 minutes. If they don’t work on gecng your acOvity up to 60 minutes a day. Amer awhile you will begin to start thinking of other ways you can move. One of the key things about increasing your movement is learning to recognize opportuniOes to add more movement to your day. Five minutes here, 10 minutes there, it all adds up over Ome. • Get a pedometer or an app - It is a great idea to start counOng the number of steps you walk. The average person who walks in

an office takes about 2000 to 4000 steps a day. The goal is to do about 10,000 steps a day. That may sound like a lomy goal but having the knowledge of the steps you take each day, makes you more aware and you will want to increase your efforts of walking more to achieve whatever your personal goal is for your movement and health • Be prepared – Keep your walking shoes in your car or your desk so you can walk whenever you want • Schedule It – Schedule your exercise on your calendar and set a reminder. We tend to keep our appointments. Try to make it more on the front end of your day when you a fresh and have energy. At the end of the day the chances of you canceling because of faOgue might increase. But everyone is different, tune in to your own body clock and do what resonates best with you spirt and your body. --------Advertisement--------
