Expressing themselves: Art success for local students

aura Payne and Saskia Hopman will have their HSC artworks displayed in the NSW Gallery ArtExpress Exhibition and the Sydney Olympic Park Armory Gallery. ArtExpress is a prestigious collection of artworks from the state’s most creative teenagers – no more than 100 students get selected for this accolade and over 9,800 HSC artworks were judged. A 2012 Nepean Creative and Performing Arts High School graduate,

Ms Payne entered the monument category, while fellow student Ms Hopman chose sculpture. In these categories each student had to develop an idea or theme and create it through using one or more mediums, in Ms Payne’s case she chose to use the techniques of print making, drawing and ceramics, while Ms Hopman chose Keraflex porcelain. Visual Arts HSC teacher Kelly Rousham said: “I was overjoyed to hear that their hard work, tenacity and determination throughout the year had paid off”.
