Again the rain has caused havoc with the NDBA Championships. Firstly the Fours Final was unable to be fi nalised and it has been necessary to move all championship games forward one week i.e. Triples round 3 and quarter fi nals will now be played on Sunday, March 3 and so on. Congratulations to Penrith CEO Julie Cullen and her great band of assistants for raising around $9,000 for the PCYC at a Charity Day held last Friday. Kingswood held a Presidents Day last Sunday, something they had not done for many years. President Rob Coldicott welcomed

Tennis in Penrith Nepean District Juniors performed extremely well last Sunday at the latest leg of the Medibank Junior Development Series event held at Hawkesbury Tennis Association. Joel Stevens seems to be following in his father’s footsteps by taking out the 10 and under boys’ singles event. He defeated another Nepean junior, Reece Stoney, in a hard fought match to take the title. These two boys are making a habit of dominating this event, fighting out the fi nal in Bathurst a few weeks earlier. Brandon Benson put in an exceptional effort to take out the 14 and under boys’ event. All four 14 and under girls’ semi fi nalists were from Nepean, with Emma Wholohan taking out the fi nal against a rapidly improving Courtney Cook in another hard fought encounter.

Mick Gilfoyle State Councillor Danny Rodgers from the RNSWBA and Vice President Neil Workman ably fi lling in for the ailing NDBA President Barry Copeland. President Rob nominated Jim Hadler, Bob Lamont, Ray New and Jim Newton to receive the RNSWBA Merit Badges and John Gordon and Paul Buckley the Tie Bars. The NDBA Most Valuable Member Badge went to Bill Sevdalis, Les Edwards, Max Thompson and Tony Mansour. Lyn Hadler and Val Buckley were awarded the Ladies Broaches. Danny Rodgers presented a Merit Badge and Tie Bar to President Rob.
