YOU’RE ALL INVITED – BICENTENARY OF BLUE MOUNTAINS CROSSING EVENTS During the month of May, Penrith residents will be treated to some wonderful historical events to commemorate and celebrate the Bicentenary of the First European Crossing of the Blue Mountains by Blaxland, Wentworth and Lawson.

Best of all – each event is FREE and so everyone can come along and learn something about one of the most significant historical milestones in our country’s history. Here’s a quick run-down of the events: Saturday, 11 May, 7am – see Jack Thompson farewell two groups of trekkers as they depart the site of Blaxland’s farm at Luddenham Road, South Creek. Saturday, 11 May, 4pm – join Jack Thompson for a ‘Night out under the Stars’ at Weir Reserve, Penrith. Camp sites will be limited. Sunday, 19 May, 10am – Mamre House – Historical Family Festival where you can learn about the past. Saturday, 25 & Sunday, 26 May – ‘Back to Emu Plains Weekend’ – includes walking tours and a William Cox Open Day. For more information contact 4732 7645.

As the title suggests the festival will celebrate rock music throughout the ages as well as World Cup Rowing which is on at the Sydney International Regatta Centre from 18 March. However what would a festival be without a street parade starting at 12.30pm. No matter how you look at it, it’s a great day you simply can’t miss! s Residents are benefitting from the digital revolution with free group and one-on-one training at the new Penrith Digital Hub at Penrith Library. Sessions have covered emailing, online and social networking, Skype and more. All classes and personal sessions are free.
