T
he Penrith Panthers have yet again released another one of their promising halves ahead of the upcoming 2013 season. Toyota Cup megastar and occasional fi rst grader Harry Siejka this week signed a two-year deal with the New Zealand Warriors, now coached by Siejka’s former mentor, Matthew Elliot. The 20-year-old joins a long list of halves the Panthers have let go in the last five years including Craig Gower, Peter Wallace, Josh McCrone, Jarrod Sammut, Wade Graham and Travis Burns. Siejka only played four fi rst grade
games for the Panthers between 2011 and 2012 but was instrumental in Penrith’s charge to the fi nals during this season’s National Youth Competition. It’s understood Siejka asked to leave the Panthers to chase a better opportunity with the Warriors, which will likely see him play in the halves alongside excitement machine Shaun Johnson. Penrith Panthers General Manager of Rugby League, Phil Moss, said: “Harry has been a well-liked player during his time with the Panthers, and we wish him all the best for his future”.
