Keep watch around water: Safety needs to be a priority KATHERINE TWEED

he start of summer means more time spent around water so it is important to ‘Keep Watch’ because it may just save a life. As part of its Keep Watch 2012 campaign, Royal Life Saving Australia, in conjunction with PoolWerx, revealed that 330 Australians, under the age of five, have drowned in the past 10 years, almost half of those in a home pool. The facts are horrific but according

to local PoolWerx franchisee, Tony Fil, keeping watch around the pool and ensuring that your pool is safe can make a big difference. “There are plenty of little things that you can do that can save a life and that is invaluable. The complacency, where people say ‘it is not going to happen to me’, is the biggest issue; it is promoting poor supervision,” he said.
