3 Minute Magic Car Wash the magic sponsor fter last year’s farragutpress How the West Was Won presented by 3Minute Magic Car Wash battle of Westside high school football’s “Big Six,” the bronze Stetson hat trophy had a Spartans green glow. “I guess everybody's chasing Webb right now,” said Wes Jones, Hardin Valley Academy head coach, about Dave Meske’s Webb School Spartans winning the inaugural 3-Minute Magic Car Wash HWWW title — en route to the TSSAA Division II-A state title — with a 9-1 regular season record. Rusty Bradley's Christian Academy of Knoxville Warriors — also competing for regular season top honors with Farragut, Bearden and Knoxville Catholic — actually tied Webb at 9-1 but barely lost in a total points scored tiebreaker. Jim Rooney, 3-Minute Magic Car Wash owner, said he is anxious to sponsor HWWW because “local high school football is very important to our community, and we have a lot of local high school kids who support our car wash. “We want to do everything we can to be supportive of the local schools,” he added. “Last year was a fantastic experience for us being part of the How the West Was Won program. We were honored to have presented the trophy to the champions. “It was exciting to watch the race as it concluded, and we just want to be part of that again this year.” Bradley said 3-Minute Magic Car Wash’s HWWW sponsorship is “very, very kind and generous. on their part. “Players from every team in this area put in a lot of time and a lot of hours, and it's nice to see that rewarded,” he added. Meske said such recognition “is fun for the kids. It brings some excitement to West Knoxville football. “When kids have an opportunity to be publicized or be honored, it's special for them,” he added. “It's creating memories, and I think that's important.” Eddie Courtney, Farragut head coach, said his program “has always felt like that just being recognized in the battle of the West has been very important to us, and even so now that we've added the other teams in this for the trophy. “Especially because, if you look at the quality of the programs this involves,” Courtney added. “Webb winning the state championship, and us and Bearden competing every year for region championships and getting into the playoffs. Catholic, CAK the same thing. “It speaks highly; if you win that, you've won over good programs. All of us are good programs. Hardin Valley's starting to come on now that they've established their program.” For the team that claims 2010's Stetson hat bronze trophy, “It will certainly be a special award for them,” Courtney said.
