Elementary/Middle Level Education Major (4-8 Certification) Program Description: The Elementary/Middle Level Education Program is an undergraduate degree designed primarily as a concentration in the education of upper elementary and middle school students. The degree program is required for a grades 4-8 teaching certification; teacher candidates are prepared as upper elementary teacher generalists and middle level teacher specialists. Students enrolled in this major are required to have two middle level specializations, one of which has to be either Math or Science. Students may choose from the following five concentrations: English/ Language Arts and Mathematics, English/Language Arts and Science, Social Studies and Mathematics, Social Studies and Science, or Science and Mathematics.
