GAPS – ACCELERATED HEALTH PROGRAMS

RN to BSN Program Master of Science in Nursing Master of Science in Nursing/Master of Business Administration Program Doctor of Nursing Practice Nancy Rowland Mosser, Ed.D., Chair and Director, Department of Nursing ACCELERATED RN TO BSN PROGRAM Michele Baumgartel, MSN, RN, NE-BC, Director Miranda Chapman, MBA, Coordinator Students in the RN to BSN program must have graduated from a state approved associate degree or diploma program. They must be currently U.S. licensed to practice professional nursing Classes in the RN to BSN Program are structured around the cohort concept, so that students admitted at the same time begin and end their program together. Classes meet one night a week for four hours and the entire program is completed in 4 semesters (16 months).

Progression: Students must maintain a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher (on a 4.0 scale). All required courses in the nursing major must be completed with a grade of “C” (2.0) or higher and students may repeat only one nursing course. Students may repeat any one nursing course only once. Additional nursing course grades of C- or below (1.7 or lower on a 4.0 scale) will result in dismissal from the nursing program. 2012-2013

Admission to the Department of Nursing: NURSING MAJOR, RN to BSN STUDENT Registered Nurse applicants who wish to enroll in the RN to BSN program must submit formal application for admission to the University and must fulfill all stated admission requirements. The applicant should submit the following to the Nursing Coordinator for the RN to BSN Program: 1. An official transcript from a state-approved nursing program (diploma or associate degree program) and transcripts of all academic credits earned from other institutions. Achievement of a 3.0 cumulative grade point average is required. 2. Evidence of current US registered nurse licensure. 3. Two professional references, from current or former supervisors or professional colleagues. 4. A brief personal essay (typed, double-spaced, 1-2 pages) describing career goals relative to the AACN BSN Essentials, and commitment to full time study in an accelerated format. Application materials remain active for one year following submission and all incomplete applications are shredded at the end of that year. If a student fails to meet the requirements for admission, he or she may appeal the decision in writing to the Director of the RN to BSN Program.
