The H.E.A.R.T. OF 44TH Street

The backstory of our U.S. Training Center (USTC): WAR, Int’l staff met Monique during outreach in Grand Rapids, MI. Hearing her story, we offered her alternative employment and the very next day, she showed up at our headquarters. After trying in vain to write a resume for one who had only known exploitation and abuse, we hired her and our U.S. Training Center was born. This section of the lookbook & giving catalogue features products made by individuals who are artisans of Encompassed Creations, the USTC’s product line.

As you shop for yourself and your loved ones, our lookbook is perfect for you with our array of beautiful jewelry and luxurious spa products to choose from. Not only do they make you look and feel amazing, but they're also made by at-risk and rescued individuals who are being given the opportunity to showcase their skills & talents as they labor to lift their lives to dignity.

Our parent organization is Women at Risk, International (WAR, Int'l), an organization committed to providing circles of protection around survivors of abuse, trafficking, exploitation, and more to heal through culturally sensitive, value-added intervention projects and partnerships.

Our focus is to empower survivors to live & work with dignity and hope.

We are dedicated to rescuing, assisting, & walking with survivors on their healing journey. Our projects are designed to empower those we serve with the skills, knowledge, & resources needed to thrive.

This section allows you the chance to make a positive impact on the local and global community by assisting in our upcoming causes. With your help, we can make a difference in the lives of others.

At WAR, Int’l, we are committed to rescuing individuals who have fallen victim to any form of exploitation and providing them with the support and resources they need to begin to heal.

We are honored to include these two stories of hope & encouragement from women who have been rescued from exploitation. Despite the unimaginable trauma and pain they have endured, these women have found the strength to rebuild their lives and overcome their past. We invite you to join us in celebrating their resilience and perseverance. Through their stories, we hope to raise awareness about the realities of human trafficking and support these brave women on their journey toward healing and empowerment.

Rhoda’ s Roses USA

Ever since she was a little girl, Rhoda wanted to sing. After much local success, Rhoda thought she caught her big break when a talent agent promised a vocal tour in Japan. Though her first visit proved successful, on her second trip, traffickers took her papers and forced her to serve drinks at a bar. One night a coworker lured Rhoda to a "dance club" filled with the Japanese mafia. After drugging and abducting her, mafia members repeatedly brutalized and assaulted Rhoda for three days. She eventually escaped, but the Japanese police blamed her, and a counselor even advised suicide as the only way to preserve her dignity. Even after returning home to America, help was nowhere to be found.

Finally, Rhoda discovered a community of healing and support at WAR, Int'l. Now she no longer numbs her pain with substance abuse and self-mutilation. Instead, she has transformed her suffering into a story of survival and hope. Rhoda uses her passionate voice to share this story, singing at benefit concerts, speaking out against human trafficking, and whispering words of hope and encouragement to vulnerable teens and wounded women.

R is for rescuing Pearls of Hope

Thailand

Mai was alone, abandoned by her husband to care for their two children. With little money and no protection, Mai and her children were at risk of being targeted by those who prey on the desperate and vulnerable, luring them into the notorious trafficking markets of Thailand. Determined to resist them and find a way to support herself, Mai ventured to open a small pearl shop. Eager to see Mai, her family, and her business flourish, WAR, Int’l began a partnership with her.

She interacts with WAR, Int’l staff and jewelry experts regularly, gaining mentorship and resources to grow her business and provide for her family. Now her shop not only provides her with a reliable income but also creates jobs for many other vulnerable women. As Mai’s business continues to grow, so does the circle of protection and hope embracing at-risk women in her community. When you wear these beautiful pearls, you are wearing the story of women protected, empowered, and living with dignity.
