Walnut Creek Guide to Arts + Rec Winter 2013

Welcome We are fortunate to live in such a wonderful, safe community where our high quality schools, recreation programs and culture and arts scene set us apart from other communities in the Bay Area.

We believe the classes, programs and services offered in the Guide to Arts + Rec contribute significantly to Walnut Creek’s exceptional quality of life, whether it’s a master artist ceramics workshop, after school recreation program for middle school students, a visit to the LCA or a travel experience with other active adults.

In line with our department’s mission, together we ARE creating a better community through services that strengthen heart, mind and body. The programs and services we offer provide fun and enjoyment to our participants of all ages, but what you may not know is that they also contribute to the health of the community and its economy.

With the rate of childhood obesity at a record high, we are a partner in public health— keeping kids healthy, active, building self-esteem and getting them outside. Our programs teach teamwork, build strong communities and provide life-long learning opportunities.

This great news gives you just a few more reasons to love what we do! We hope you are as passionate about what we have to offer as we are in delivering these services to you. The City of Walnut Creek’s Arts, Recreation and Community Services Department makes Walnut Creek a great place to live, work and play!
