THE

allflower

letter from the editor

It’s hard to believe Wallflower just celebrated its second birthday. The time literally flew by. We started with 5 models and now have 81, many who have travelled to cities as far flung as Auckland, Sydney, Seoul, Paris, London and Milan. We have been like proud parents watching Jeremy walk in two exclusive Givenchy shows in Paris. Lexi signed with DNA and survived her first day blisters to learn the city like a pro and claims to LOVE it now—she’s looking forward to walking in the upcoming September fashion week, hopefully minus the blisters. Mary Margaret and Becca signed with Silent and are on their way with the next chapters in their careers. Delaney signed with Request and spent part of her summer in NYC testing and going to castings. BreAuna is in Chicago and then off to Miami. We’ve signed some amazing new faces— including 12-year-old Delaney T who stuns us with her camera presence, and Graysha, who has fashion in her bloodline—her mom is a fashion writer from London. Graysha walks in like a supermodel wearing clothes that look like she has a personal stylist and can work 6 inch heels on the runway like a pro—and she’s 13. The kids division that we launched last year at a Wallflower/Galleria Dallas model search has taken off—our kids have done some amazing work and editorials, some featured here in this issue. Now that we’re in our terrible twos there’s no telling what will happen next. We’re like that over anxious toddler that just learned how to push the boundaries and assert his personality—and maybe cause a little mayhem in the process.

We’re proud of our second issue of The Wallflower zine. From Jamie Luca’s Party Monsters—inspired by the club kids of the ‘90s—to Lauren Withrow’s magical gypsies—to Molly’s uplifting shots of models with white animals from Agent Beast —we think it’s an issue you’ll enjoy. We also have an added treat—a video Jamie Luca made as a birthday present to Wallflower. So, happy birthday to us—and thanks to all of our clients who have supported us these past two years and to all of the amazing creative talents in Dallas who continue to inspire us with their artistic talents. XOXO tammy theis creative director

postscript

I wanted to dedicate this issue to Animal Rescue of Texas. I met this amazing organization when I rescued Ellwood, a whippet mix with a fractured hip and another hip out of the socket. He was wandering around a neighborhood on three legs hungry and covered in fleas. I picked him up and he looked up at me with these gorgeous golden eyes and I was done. I called Paige Anderson, owner of Agent Beast, because I knew she had rescued many animals. She told me about Animal Rescue of Texas, an organization that finds foster homes for rescued animals, pays for their vet bills, and then looks for adoptive families. So far, Ellwood has received excellent care from ART’s vet Dr. Philip Lorenz. He just had surgery to repair his fractured hip. He’s turned into an amazing, happy, healthy pup, which tears around the yard with my other two rescue dogs. I’m hoping he’ll find a happy home soon. Thanks ART for caring for these animals that otherwise might not have had a happy ending. For more information or to make a donation to this worthy cause please visit animalrescueoftexas.org
