Have you heard of Loma Post Office? Cleverville, Blind Creek, Black Spring Ridge? Or Amethyst Post Office? “More than Just the Mail” gives the histories of the 48 post offices once found in Vulcan County, plus 2011 updates for mail delivery. Personal anecdotes cover walking or riding a saddle horse miles to Stavely to pick up your own and your neighbors’ mail to today’s modern mailbox delivery. One section has photos of the remaining buildings that were once post offices, with GPS coordinates for each. The 8½” by 11” coil bound, softcover book contains 138 pages, including almost 200 black and white photos and more than 90 color photos. The information has been compiled by N. J. Aldred. The book is available for sale in Vulcan at the Tourism and Trek Station, the Vulcan Library, the Vulcan and District Museum and the Vulcan Healthcare Tuck Shop, in Champion at N-I Upholstery and in Milo at the Milo Library at a cost of $30. $10 S&H.
