Job Openings 2012 Office Jobs Administrative Assistant (PG 15 $12.78/hour). Montpelier/Waterbury area. Starts late March to early April. Provide administrative support to Parks Sales & Service Manager and backup Reservation Call Center. Assist with customer inquiries, web site development, photo processing, spreadsheets, park events, forms, publications, and a variety of administrative duties. Must have excellent communication and writing skills, computer skills and aptitude with strong knowledge of Word, Excel and Photo Shop as well as the ability to learn new computer programs quickly. Approximately 30 hours per week, weekdays. Year-round. Apply to Montpelier office. Call Center Customer Service Representative - General (PG 12 $11.14/hour) Montpelier/Waterbury area. Recruiting 2-3 positions, part time seasonal and part time year round. 8:30 AM - 4:30 PM, 2 - 5 days per week. No weekends. Serves as Customer Service Representative in Vermont State Parks Reservation Call Center (this is inside office work) answering customer inquiries, booking campground reservations and processing payments. Applicant must have great customer service and computer skills, including thorough knowledge of Microsoft Office applications and the internet. Ideal candidate will have thorough knowledge of Vermont, its state parks and recreational opportunities, and will have lived in Vermont for several years. Knowledge of bookkeeping preferred. Applicant must be able to work in team environment as well as independently. This position assists with administrative projects during slow periods. There are some perks like free camping, fishing licenses and admission to Vermont attractions, but there is no paid health insurance, vacation, or sick pay. Apply to Montpelier office.

Job Openings 2012

Attendant I-IV (PG 5-8; $8.46/hour - $9.37/hour). Customer service, general buildings and grounds cleanup and/or park office duties such as fee collection and reservations with more responsibility in higher pay grades. Experience desirable. CPR & First Aid certification preferred. Higher level Attendant positions may also function as assistant manager in larger parks. Weekend work likely. Park Ranger I-IV (PG 10-17; $490.08 - $676.80/per week, including overtime). Serves as summer park manager or assistant manager responsible for customer experience and supervision of staff and park operations at a specific park. Ranger pay grades depend on size of park, complexity of operations and attendance. Previous experience in park operations and maintenance, or college education in park management preferred, but technical maintenance skills not necessary. Basic First Aid & CPR certification required. Working in excess of 48 hours per week required at times. Weekend and evening work required. In-park residency is usually required, for which housing is provided. Park Interpreter I or II (PG 10-11; $10.21/hour - $10.63/hour). Serves as a summer naturalist at one or two State Parks. Responsible for developing, scheduling and carrying out nature programs, hikes, recreation programs, etc. Prior related education and experience necessary. Requires working split shift schedules. Weekend and evening work required. Seasonal Trail Coordinator (Pay Grade 18: $14.89/hour) This position coordinates trails program and projects in an assigned region/district for the Department of Forests, Parks and Recreation. Plans, develops, and coordinates trail maintenance and development projects, and supervises and monitors in-house, contracted and volunteer trail crews. Recruits and interviews for State Trail Crew positions, trains and supervises crew, and evaluates performance. Develops and coordinates a volunteer trail maintainer program on state lands. Prepares grants, requests for proposals, and contracts for trail projects. Duties are performed under the general direction of the Parks Regional Manager or State Lands Stewardship Forester, but with need for significant independence interacting with the public and outside service providers. Wilderness First Aid/Responder and CPR certifications desired, as well as chainsaw certification (Game of Logging). Position is for 38 weeks starting in March/April 2012. Must have driver's license. State or rental vehicle will be available. Apply to Northwest Parks (Region III). Trail Crew Members and Trail Crew Leader (PG 10 and PG 12; $10.21/hour and $11.14/hour). Two roving 4person crews responsible for routine trail maintenance and technical trail projects in VT State forests and parks. Both northern VT and southern VT crews will be traveling between work areas and may stay at nearby state parks during the work week. Basic first aid & CPR required. Previous trail experience and chain saw use preferred. Must be able to work in back country. Apply to Northeast Parks (Region 4).
