Welcome to the Vermont Youth Conservation Corps! Kate Hilfiker will give an overview of the VYCC and a tour of the grounds focusing on the trail system and trail structures in place

Concept to completion. Heather Furman will present on the Mobs Farm Trail in Jericho, Vermont

Making a large-scale trail project happen: The history to date of the Lamoille Valley Rail Trail

12:30 PM

Lunch (Provided with Admission). Trail Awards will be presented. Governor Shumlin will address the audience.

Low Impact Trail Design and Construction with Josh Ryan of Timber and Stone, LLC Trail Structures

Stone Structures Professional stone worker Charlie MacMartin will give a 3 hour workshop covering a variety of stone construction techniques.

2:30 PM GMC Bridge over the Winooski. Dave Hardy of the Green Mountain Club will give us an overview of one of the biggest projects along the Long Trail.

Mountain Bike trail designs. Brooke Scatchard will take us to the world of bike parks, flow trails, and pump tracks.

Wetlands Permitting Presenter to be announced. Learn the new wetlands rules and regulations that effect recreation trails.

Finding the Funding and Resources to get your trail on the ground Jennifer Waite of the National Park Service will present on available trail resources.

4:00 PM Water Trail Structures: New designs in a changing environment. Noah Pollock and Walter Opuszynski of the Northern Forest Canoe Trail will present examples of new trail structure designs.

Managing a network of mountain bike trails with C.J. Scott of Kingdom Trails.

Wetands Trail Structure Design with Peter Jensen. Professional Trail Builder Peter Jensen will show an overview of techniques used for trail construction in wetlands.

America's Great Outdoor Initiative. Kate Williams of the Northern Forest Canoe Trail will present on the current developments of the federal initiatives.

Keynote Speaker/Closing Remarks End of Symposium

Mechanized Trail Equipment Trail construction with Mechanized Equipment. Alex Hoffinger of Timber and Stone will have a sample of mechanized trail equipment on hand. He will explain when this equipment is useful and give hints on using them on trail projects.

Trail Easements Trail Easements: Steve Libby of the Vermont River Conservancy will discuss the role easements play in the work they accomplish protecting Vermont's Rivers.

Trail Easements: Amy Kelsey of the Catamount Trail and appraiser Robert Lamprey will discuss the impact of trail easements on Vermont's trails focusing on their work with the Catamount Trail.
