Senior running back, Antwain Lyde scored 2 early rushing touchdowns in a 39-14 win over rival Virginia Union University on Saturday, Oct. 29th in Rogers Stadium. Lyde led the Trojans with 26 rushes for 92 total yards.

VSU aired it out for a season high 282 passing yards in a 34-13 loss to the Bulldogs of Gardner-Webb University on Thursday, Nov. 3rd in Spangler Stadium. Junior quarterback, Jarred Battle completed 25 of 48 pass attempts and threw a 13 yard touchdown pass to senior wide receiver, Timothy Paulk. The Bulldogs rushed for 4 touchdowns and gained 296 total yards on the ground. VSU threw 3 interceptions and had a total of -3 rushing yards.

The Trojans offense scored 4 touchdowns, the defense returned a 57 yard interception for another score, and senior kicker, William Rudd nailed a 44 yard FG to seal a homecoming victory for VSU. The Trojans rushed for 109 total yards and passed for 88 yards. Defensively, VSU forced one fumble and picked off 3 passes. Senior linebacker, Jeremy Pruitt recorded 10 total tackles to lead VSU. The Trojans defense had 7 tackles for a loss, 5 quarterback hurries, and 2 sacks. Junior defensive tackle, Rontrelle Knockett and red-shirt freshman Andrew Faison, Jr. both recorded a sack. Twelve seniors were honored on Senior Day, as they played their final home game at Rogers Stadium.

The Trojans close out their 2011 season at 5-5 with a 34-13 loss to the Bulldogs of Gardner Webb University. They began and ended their season against two Division I schools and played 7 games on the road. This is the fourth consecutive season, the Trojans finished with five wins or more. VSU won all three home games and will finish the season ranked second in the CIAA Northern Division behind Elizabeth City State.
