July-September 2015 CQC Inspection Programme Information for the voluntary and community sector in the North West CQC will be carrying out inspections in the following sectors: • • • • •

Acute Hospitals Mental Health Community Health Services (CHS) Primary medical services (PMS) including GP practices, GP out of hours services and dental practices Adult social care including care homes, home care and hospice services.

Acute, mental health, community health service inspections A list of the announced inspections is shown at the end of this briefing. CQC would like to give the sector the opportunity to share information they have about these services particularly people’s experiences of their care, and feedback from their carers, families and advocates. Information can be sent now about any of the announced inspections. The table below gives you the email boxes you can use. If you have information that cuts across different services, please send it to whichever mailbox you feel is most relevant and CQC will make sure the information gets to the right inspection team.

You can also ask for an inspector to contact you through these mailboxes. CQC will be inspecting some independent healthcare providers during July-September and will, if necessary, inform us of these once they are announced. Information will also be available on the CQC website. Primary medical services, dental practices and adult social care inspections These are not announced individually. However CQC will publish a list of the clinical commissioning group (CCG) areas in which they are inspecting GP practices during July-September on their website. CQC will inspect 25% of GP practices in each of these CCG areas, as well as the relevant GP out-of-hours services. You can send information about GP practices and out-of-hour services to pmsinspections@cqc.org.uk CQC inspect dental practices on a rolling programme across the country. You can send information about dental practices to pdsinspections@cqc.org.uk. Adult social care service inspections take place on a rolling programme in all local authority areas across the country. CQC would be interested in any information you hold about these services. You can send information about adult social care services to enquiries@cqc.org.uk or by phoning 03000 616161. For all these services, you can also encourage individuals to share their experiences through the ‘share your experience’ form on the CQC website or their customer service centre on 03000 616161. CQC approach to inspections There are some differences in the CQC approach to inspecting different services, but they all aim to answer five key questions about an organisation: • • • • •

Is it safe? Is it effective? Is it caring? Is it responsive to people’s needs? Is it well-led?

All these services will now be rated as outstanding; good; require improvement; or inadequate. You can find out more about the new inspection methodology by going to : http://www.cqc.org.uk/content/our-new-inspection-model CQC would like you to share any relevant feedback about the quality of care provided by these organisations and any of the services they provide. This includes evidence of high-quality care as well as concerns you have identified. CQC will use your information to help the inspection team plan the inspection and what to look for on the inspection.

CQC may summarise the information you send in the data pack it produces for each organisation, unless you specifically ask them not to. The evidence will not contain personal or confidential information and CQC understand that any references to examples you share will be anonymised. Finally, CQC would also encourage you to sign up for their new e-mail alerts about inspections of local care services. Inspections announced in the North West – July to September 2015 Provider
