INCLUDED EXCURSION

CAIRO MUSEUM & THE TREASURES OF EGYPT (Half day, AM) Imagine the feelings of British archaeologist Howard Carter on November 5th 1922, as he descended the hidden steps of Tutankhamun’s tomb and set eyes on its fabulous golden treasures. During this visit to the National Archaeological Museum of Egypt you will come as close as possible to experiencing Carter’s magical moment, when you get to see these magnificent unearthed artefacts for yourself, alongside other pharaonic artworks spanning a period of over 50 centuries. Stepping from modern urban streets into a timeless world of golden burial masks and papyrus scrolls, this is the largest collection of Egyptian antiquities in the world, but the museum's crowning glory is of course its priceless collection from the tomb of King Tutankhamun, who was born during Egypt's Golden Age in 1347BC. Among the many famous items you will see are the royal diadem, the viscera coffin for his mummified liver and the mask of solid gold weighing over 24 pounds, shaped in the image of Tutankhamun’s face. The rest of the afternoon is free to spend at your leisure and to enjoy the hotel’s facilities.

14 DECEMBER CAIRO, EGYPT Situated at the apex of the Nile delta, for thousands of years the cosmopolitan city of Memphis was the capital of the Old Kingdom and must have staggered out-of-town visitors with its huge scale. After exploring, lunch will be served at your hotel in Cairo, followed by some free time to explore, before a special evening treat awaits.

INCLUDED EXCURSION Cairo

MEMPHIS & SAKKARA (Half day, AM) Here you will see the remains of the Temple of Ptah, God of Memphis and mythical creator of the universe, alongside the huge fallen statue of King Ramses II and the Alabaster Sphinx of King Amenhotep II. Next comes Sakkara, a favourite necropolis of the Old Kingdom pharaohs, to see one of mankind’s first monumental stone buildings, the Step Pyramid of King Zoser, built in 2750BC by the polymath Imhotep, who could arguably lay claim to being the world’s first architect, doctor, priest, poet, dentist and astrologer. You will also be taken inside a nearby mastaba (funerary chamber) such as Ptah-Hotep or Mereruca, to gain an additional insight into the architectural origins of the pyramids and see some beautiful images of daily life in ancient Egypt.

6

INCLUDED EXCURSION

EVENING NILE CRUISE (PM) Join a luxurious cruise boat on the banks of the River Nile for an evening sail along the same timeless waterway once traversed by pharaohs, queens and nobles, then sit back, relax and enjoy a sumptuous dinner as your boat glides serenely past Cairo’s waterfront landmarks. For your entertainment, a folkloric presentation and bellydance show will also take place during the meal.

The River Nile

15 DECEMBER CAIRO, EGYPT

Giza

After checking out of your hotel this morning, you will head to the iconic Sphinx and the Great Pyramids of Giza to witness the breathtaking majesty that is the last survivor of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World.

INCLUDED EXCURSION

PYRAMIDS OF GIZA (Half day, AM) Built for the pharaohs of the fourth dynasty, until recently historians believed that tens of thousands of slaves were used in the construction of the monumental Pyramids of Giza; but modern theory now suggests these workers actually laboured for wages or to pay off taxes. The colossal limestone Sphinx, with its haunches of a lion and face of a king, represents the guardian deity of the royal burial grounds. So great were the Sphinx's mythical powers, 15th century Egyptians were convinced it controlled the flood cycles of the Nile. Note: This visit is to the exterior of the pyramids only. If you wish to go inside, there is an additional charge, but this is not recommended for those with claustrophobia or with breathing, knee or back problems. Photography is not allowed inside the pyramids. Lunch will be served at a leading hotel near the Pyramids, before you head back to Aegean Odyssey in Suez for dinner on board the ship.

7

St Paul's Monastery

16 DECEMBER SUEZ, EGYPT

17 DECEMBER AT SEA

The Red Sea Mountains contain the highest peaks outside Sinai to be found anywhere in Egypt and are still home to Bedouin nomads. This mystical place has long attracted the devout, who come seeking peace amidst its serene landscape.

Another chance to appreciate the excellent amenities of Aegean Odyssey – why not treat yourself to a spa treatment or explore the best-stocked library to be found at sea?

INCLUDED EXCURSION

ST ANTHONY & ST PAUL'S MONASTERIES (Full day) Anthony the Great, the Father of All Monks, was born in 251AD to a wealthy family in Lower Egypt, but after answering the call of God gave away all his worldly possessions to live an ascetic life. Following his death in 356AD, his followers founded a Coptic monastery in his name at the foot of Al-Qalzam Mountain. Your guides for the day will be the monks themselves, making for a truly fascinating insight into the daily life of what is the oldest still active monastery in the world. There are four churches, the oldest of which has some exceptional wall paintings of the Holy Knights. St Paul’s Monastery is another Coptic Christian retreat, and still observes rituals that have barely changed in sixteen centuries. It has a close association with St Anthony’s as one of the other oldest monasteries in the country, dating from the 5th century AD.

ON-BOARD ENRICHMENT David Price-Williams prepares you for one of the most famous ‘lost cities’ of the ancient world as his talk today examines the archaeology of Petra. Today also marks the choir club launch with carol concert rehearsals starting in the Ambassador Lounge. In the evening, ‘Sister Sister’ take to the Ambassador Lounge stage for your listening pleasure.

18 DECEMBER AQABA, JORDAN Excavations have revealed evidence of a settlement on the site of Jordan’s only coastal city existing as early as 4000 BC. It was also here that Ottoman forces were forced to retreat following an Arab raid led by T.E. Lawrence ‘of Arabia’ in 1917.

Aqaba

INCLUDED EXCURSION

WALKING TOUR OF PETRA (Full day) One of the great moments in travel is when you emerge from the long narrow winding path known as the Siq to encounter the extraordinary rose-red city of Petra. As you proceed along this mile-long fissure your guide will point out such details as the city’s ingenious water system, where some of the original terracotta pipes are still in place. Your first sight will be the magnificent spectacle of Al Khazneh (The Treasury), carved out of the rock by Nabatean Arabs some 2,000 years ago. You may also continue along the Street of Façades, taking in such sights as the amphitheatre and the Royal Court, where recent excavations have revealed a public pool and gardens. This UNESCO World Heritage Site was chosen as one of the New Seven Wonders of the World, and after passing the obelisk tombs to reach the city’s interior, you will fully understand why. Note: Please note that there is an optional one-way horse ride included in your ticket. Horse-drawn carriages are available at the site entrance, but passengers should be reminded that these are not recommended and are at your own risk.

19 DECEMBER AQABA, JORDAN Spend the morning exploring the port city at leisure, or alternatively follow in the footsteps of T.E. Lawrence. Enjoy an afternoon at leisure filled with lectures by Thomas Fraser and Campbell Price, as well as concert rehearsals for those signed up.

OPTIONAL EXCURSION

DESERT SAFARI TO WADI RUM $75 per person (Half day, AM)

Wadi Rum

Sometimes referred to as “the Valley of the Moon”, Wadi Rum is one of the most enchanting deserts in the world and will engulf you with its enigmatic lure. Surrounded by steep cliffs, narrow canyons and dramatic scenery, the Wadi has been inhabited by many cultures, including the Nabateans, since prehistoric times. Still, Wadi Rum is perhaps best known to Westerners as the staging ground for Lawrence of Arabia’s attack on the port of Aqaba. Arriving in the heart of the valley, you will be transferred to Bedouin-driven jeeps for a two-hour desert tour that includes the Khaz Ali canyon, the stunning Seven Pillars of Wisdom Mountain, and the awe-inspiring Desert Jebels sandstone rock formations. Note: Please note that the desert safari takes place using various different models of Bedouin-driven jeeps. Some jeeps may be more difficult to climb into than others and are not suitable for passengers with mobility limitations.

Karnak

20 DECEMBER SAFAGA/LUXOR, EGYPT The drive from the port of Safaga to Luxor is approximately three and a half hours, but your coach is fully airconditioned so sit back and enjoy the unfolding vistas of barren mountains, flat deserts and fertile landscapes, while your guide introduces you to the history of Upper Egypt.

INCLUDED EXCURSION

KARNAK TEMPLE (Half day, PM) Head to Karnak to visit the great Temple of Amun, the greatest place of worship in history. The hypostyle hall is a veritable forest of 134 papyrus columns that once supported a massive roof. This hall connected the outer court with the inner sanctuary, where only kings and priests were permitted. The temple was completed by Ramses II (1290-1224BC), who is considered by some to be the pharaoh of the Exodus. The site also bears evidence of an even earlier temple, dating back another thousand years. Other highlights include the Avenue of the Sphinxes – creatures combining the body of a lion and the head of a ram. The main road linking the temples at Karnak and Luxor was once lined with these fantastic creatures, each holding a statue of Ramses II between their paws. In addition, visit the open-air museum to view remains from other areas of Karnak, such as the white chapel of Sanusret I.

10

21 DECEMBER LUXOR, EGYPT The ancient pharaohs were obsessed with the afterlife, and the magnificence of their tombs and temples has been a source of marvel to tourists since the era of the Greek historian, Herodotus. After breakfast at your hotel, it’s just a short journey to some of the best in the world.

INCLUDED EXCURSION

WEST BANK & VALLEY OF THE KINGS (Half day, AM) Thebes, the city of the god Amon, was the capital of Egypt during the Middle and New Kingdoms. On the opposite bank of the Nile is the necropolis known as the Valley of the Kings, burial place of the New Kingdom pharaohs. Visit three of the royal tombs, including King Tutankhamun’s, where one of archaeology's most dramatic discovery tales comes to life. Continue to Deir el-Bahari to view the temple of Queen Hatshepsut, masterwork of Senenmut, the commoner turned royal architect. Dramatically located at the foot of a cliff, the funerary temple befits a queen who once declared herself king and is considered one of the finest buildings in all of Egypt. You will also see the Colossi of Memnon, a magnificent pair of gigantic (64 feet high) statues of Amenophis III that once graced the entrance to his immense temple. Their vast scale is an indication of its magnitude and size. After an earthquake in 27BC, the north colossus was said to sing at dawn, but after it was repaired in 199AD, the sound disappeared.

Colossi of Memnon Lanzarote

Following lunch at your hotel there will be time for a quick siesta or dip in the hotel’s beautiful pool, before another very special experience to add to all the unforgettable memories of your time in Luxor. Valley of the Kings

ON-BOARD ENRICHMENT Thomas Fraser starts looking ahead to India whilst discussing the civilisations of the Indus Valley, Nile and Tigris-Euphrates. David Price-Williams wraps up our exploration of Egypt with a talk which looks into the fall of Assyria, whilst David Crilly gets us ready for Oman by means of exploring the ancient oral traditions of storytelling at the core of Bedouin folk music. Salalah

INCLUDED EXCURSION

OPTIONAL EXCURSION

SCENIC SALALAH (Half day, AM)

SULTANATE HERITAGE - $75 per person (Half day, PM)

Start your sightseeing with a scenic drive revealing the extraordinary contrast between the city's lush vegetation and the serene landscapes of the desert. Then head to Mughsail Beach, where white sand stretches for miles. If the tide is high, you may be lucky enough to see geysers spouting from the blow holes in the limestone cliffs. Legend holds that the prophet Job is buried outside Salalah and his simple tomb is sacred to Muslims, Christians and Jews. The surrounding scenery is truly breathtaking, with panoramas of the Qara Mountains and the Jubriah Plain. Al Husn Palace, the summer residence of His Majesty the Sultan of Oman, is an imposing landmark with towering stone walls and teak doors. Although not open to visitors, you will be able to take photos en route to the colourful stalls of Al Husn Souq, which are heaped with mounds of frankincense, myrrh and incense. You'll soon see why this city was called the perfume capital of Arabia. In addition to fragrant oils, there are a variety of local artefacts on sale, like the fearsome Omani khangar daggers.

14

This tour gives you a fascinating insight into Oman, from the Al Husn Souq in Salalah to Al Balid and the remains of Dhofar, the most important ancient port on the Arabian Sea. Once part of the Frankincense Trail, the city’s location was first discovered in 1930 and its ruins, which cover an area of 64 hectares, are surrounded by high walls to the east and north. Then pass through the old town and fort in the fishing village of Taqa, on the way to the ruined city of Samhuram at Khor Rouri creek. Excavations here have uncovered evidence of an ancient city with sea trade links to the eastern Mediterranean and Greece. Up until the 1st century AD the transport of frankincense had been the domain of the camel caravans, but as a result of improved navigation techniques the trade routes became increasingly maritime via the Red Sea.

29/30 DECEMBER AT SEA The Daily Journal on board Aegean Odyssey details a comprehensive list of activities, should you be undecided how to spend these laid-back days at sea.

ON-BOARD ENRICHMENT While at sea you will be using your Quietvox even though not ashore, as Andy Bunten conducts his introduction to birdwatching (don’t forget to bring your binoculars). Alan O’Cain gives a mind-stretching talk explaining the ceaseless expansion of our knowledge of the dimensions of the cosmos, and Thomas Fraser examines the rise and fall of the Mughal Empire.

31 DECEMBER MUSCAT, OMAN Medieval forts, Moorish mosques and modern architecture mingle enchantingly in Muscat, the seaside capital of the Sultanate of Oman. The country's political, economic and commercial hub has a wealth of landmarks, as you will soon discover.

Muscat

INCLUDED EXCURSION

At the Bait Al Zubair Museum, gain a richer knowledge of Omani heritage as you browse exhibits including clothing, household items and weaponry. A lovely coastal drive past the charming fishing village of Sidab leads to the old city and Al Alam Palace, overlooking sparkling Muscat Bay. This is the official residence of Sultan Qaboos, built in 1970 on the site of an earlier palace. The modern design blends oriental and occidental styles in bright gold and blue. Nestled between the 16th century Portuguese forts of Jalali and Mirani, the palace ensemble is the perfect expression of Oman's compelling contrasts.

Jordan’s capital is one of the great cultural centres of the Middle East and there is much here to interest the visitor. It is also a city of surprises, many of which can be found in the area known as the Citadel. Sitting on the highest hill in Amman, Jebel al-Qala’a (at about 850m above sea level) the Citadel is the site of the ancient Ammonite capital of Rabbath-Ammon. The complex is surrounded by 1700m-long walls which were rebuilt many times during the Bronze and Iron Ages, as well as the Roman, Byzantine and Umayyad periods. Here you will visit the Archaeological Museum, housing an excellent collection of antiquities ranging from prehistoric times to the 15th century; the Folkloric Museum; the remains of the Roman Temple of Hercules; the Byzantine basilica; and the gate to Umayyad Palace. Also, see the Roman theatre, built during the reign of Antonius Pius (138-161AD) and enjoy a short tour of modern Amman. Petra

After breakfast the next day, ride an express train to Agra for a guided tour of the 16th century fort and the UNESCO World Heritage Taj Mahal complex. Built by the Mugal Emperor Shah Jahan in the 17th century, the ornamental sarcophagi of the emperor and empress lying side by side inside the tomb are a moving testament to undying love. A walk through the lush gardens alongside the reflecting pool reveals the bench made famous by Princess Diana, for the perfect photo opportunity. The Red Fort of Agra was founded by Emperor Akbar in 1565. Behind its forbidding red sandstone battlements are fairytale palaces that tell the tale of the Mughal Empire, when Agra was one of India’s most important cities. After returning to Delhi for dinner and another overnight at the Lalit Hotel, the next day you will visit all the key historic sights of Delhi. In the afternoon, fly back to Mumbai to rejoin Aegean Odyssey in time for a cruise across the Arabian Sea.

Some countries require you to carry certain documents ashore and to obtain visas in advance. Please refer to the specific Travel Sheet for the cruise code you are booked under. We highly recommend that in preparation for our cruises to South Africa, India and Southeast Asia, you become familiar with the Essential Travel Guide. This information can also be found online at www. voyagestoantiquity.com. Voyages to Antiquity cruises include shore excursions in almost all ports of call. Some ports offer different sightseeing opportunities – in these instances, we may offer additional, optional alternatives at extra cost.

WHAT TO EXPECT Our sightseeing programmes are outstanding but can be

OUR GUIDES

challenging. Visits to historic sites and natural wonders often require walking over uneven surfaces, up and down multiple steps or steep paths. Therefore, a reasonable level of fitness and mobility is recommended. Some passengers may decide to take a break from excursions on more strenuous days and instead explore the environs of the port. Look for the symbols alongside each excursion description. The key to these symbols may be found on page 5. These give a good idea of the level of walking involved. Tour durations are approximate and, to avoid overcrowding and ensure you enjoy the best experience, the sequence of site visits and operating times may vary. The staff on board Aegean Odyssey will brief you each evening on the plans for the following day and all departure times and meeting points will be advised in the Daily Journal. As a result of severe weather or unforeseen changes to opening/closing times, we reserve the right to alter, cancel or substitute an included excursion at any time. This happens extremely rarely and every reasonable effort is made to ensure that the advised schedules are followed. If a change is made, guests will be advised in their final documents or at the shore excursion briefings on board.

EXCURSIONS WITH THE EXTENSIVE WALKING SYMBOL

Some excursions which feature in our programmes are not suitable for guests with any mobility restrictions. In accordance with our Fitness to Travel statement and in order to ensure Voyages to Antiquity can deliver a high quality land programme, the ship reserves the right to transfer you to an alternative excursion if they believe that your original choice is unsuitable. Please consider your fellow guests and only select this option if you are certain you are able to meet the activity level.

are on hand to make sure you get the most out of your excursion experience. Informative briefings will be provided on the tour options and more generally on upcoming ports of call, and the team can field any further questions in the Reception area. During the excursions, we endeavour to have a representative on every coach, but this is not always possible and cannot be guaranteed. The role of the team ashore is to ensure the smooth running of the excursion in conjunction with the local guide and operator. This often means rotating between groups. Though always keen to assist, the team therefore cannot be responsible for providing walking support or making sure that everyone in the group is present at a particular time. Please ensure that you sign up for your preferred excursions at the embarkation desk at the start of the cruise. Some excursions may operate subject to minimum numbers, and we need to know in advance how many passengers are joining each excursion in order to book coaches and guides.

SHORE EXCURSION INFORMATION

A good local guide, keen to share his or her knowledge and enthusiasm for a particular attraction can transform a visit. All of our shore excursions feature qualified, highly-rated, English-speaking guides, with just this expertise and passion.

SHOPPING Whilst Voyages to Antiquity shore excursions focus on the history and

culture of a particular destination or attraction, some offer the chance to visit local workshops and view demonstrations of crafts and artistic techniques. Unlike other cruise operators, we have no affiliation with any shopping establishment. We do not assume responsibility for purchases made ashore and recommend you insure anything you choose to ship home.

TRANSPORTATION Various modes of transportation may be used depending on the

excursion. Motorcoaches are deluxe, air-conditioned vehicles unless not available in that port. Wi-Fi is not generally available on coaches.

CLOTHING TIPS

Throughout our South Africa, India and Southeast Asia programme, we recommend consulting our Essential Travel Guide checklist. Umbrellas/waterproof jackets are recommended for this itinerary due to sudden tropical rainfalls in December. Sturdy walking shoes, insect repellent, binoculars and sunscreen/sunhats are highly recommended for all programmes. Please dress respectfully for visits to sites of a religious nature – generally this means that shoulders and knees should be covered. Kindly be reminded that many of our programmes include visits to temples and pagodas where it is necessary to remove shoes and socks. Further clothing tips will be provided at the on-board briefings, along with weather forecasts for the following day.

BOOKCLUB Discussions on this cruise are based on the below books – join Alan O'Cain for some informal ponderings throughout the voyage.

The Book of Strange New Things by Michel Faber Peter Leigh is a missionary called to go on the journey of a lifetime. Leaving behind his beloved wife, Bea, Peter sets out on a quest to take the word of God to the farthest corners of the galaxy. His mission will challenge everything - his faith, his endurance and the love that can hold two people together, even when they are worlds apart.

Forest Dark by Nicole Krauss The award-winning, New York Times bestselling author of The History of Love, conjures an achingly beautiful and breathtakingly original novel about personal transformation that interweaves the stories of two disparate individuals – an older lawyer and a young novelist – whose transcendental search leads them to the same Israeli desert.

AEGEAN ODYSSEY

Carrying an average of just 350 passengers, the premium class Aegean Odyssey is small enough to sail along rivers such as the Yangon and Guadalquivir, and into the most characterful ports of call inaccessible to the mega-ships. The service is more personal, the atmosphere more convivial and you get plenty of time to interact with the guest experts. Yet on the other hand she is large enough to offer a superb range of amenities, including a choice of dining venues and comfortable bars, a relaxing spa centre and one of the best stocked libraries at sea. Cabins and staterooms are spacious and intelligently designed, and dedicated solo cabins at a low supplement are available across almost all categories, including balcony level.

ON-BOARD FACILITIES • A choice of restaurants • Internet centre • Three lounges

• Outdoor pool

• Four bars

• Athena Health Spa

• Lecture theatre

and gym

• Library

DELIGHTFUL DINING Fortunately, the fascinating and beautiful regions sailed by Aegean Odyssey are also renowned for their strong culinary traditions, sublime local ingredients and delicious signature dishes. We draw on these inspirations to deliver a dining experience of sustained quality in keeping with your chosen itinerary. MARCO POLO Though the more 'formal' dining option, with full waiter service and multi-course meals, Marco Polo has a casual country club elegance appreciated by guests. Join us here for dinner (and lunch on full days at sea) and enjoy a selection of expertly prepared dishes reflecting the countries visited and accompanied by complimentary wine, beer and soft drinks*. TERRACE CAFE With a mix of indoor and alfresco seating, the informal Terrace Cafe is a charming alternative to the white glove refinement of the Marco Polo restaurant. Here, friendly staff serve up splendid breakfast buffets and mouthwatering lunch and dinner delights from a variety of stations, including sizzling grilled meats and succulent fish, crisp pizzas and indulgent pasta, fresh salads and fruit, again to the accompaniment of complimentary wine, beer and soft drinks*. * Complimentary wine, beer and soft drinks with dinner

AFTERNOON TEA AND LATE NIGHT SNACKS

AWARD-WINNING ENRICHMENT

There is something uniquely pleasurable about afternoon tea aboard a classic cruise ship, and you won't want to miss the scones, pastries and finger sandwiches served up in the Terrace Cafe most days of your cruise.

Voyages to Antiquity operates the most culturally immersive cruise programme, with internationally renowned guest speakers, a comprehensive selection of expertly-designed shore excursions in every major port of call, an extensive onboard library and a host of other enrichment elements from reading lists prepared by Blackwell’s of Oxford and onboard book clubs to exclusive private visits and local entertainment.

And if you can manage even more gastronomic delights, hors d'oeuvres and late night snacks, from filo prawns to chocolate-dipped strawberries, are available in the Charleston Lounge at 5pm and 10.30pm.

EXPERT GUEST LECTURERS 2-3 guest speakers, pre-eminent in their profession and expert in their field, accompany every departure. 6-9 talks per cruise, 45 minutes each, is the norm, often focusing on history, archaeology, art and mythology, but also on more unusual subjects such as botany and viticulture. Talks are delivered in the Ambassador Lounge with a host of visual aids (music, video and high quality maps) and recorded so passengers can catch up at their leisure if they are not able to attend in person. These guest lectures are specifically designed to complement shore excursions, not simply repeat or pre-empt the insight presented by the excellent local guides. SHORE EXCURSIONS AND PRIVATE VISITS More than 90% of Voyages to Antiquity’s shore excursions are included in the cruise fare. We use

EVERYDAY ENRICHMENT Aboard or ashore, every day brings enrichment opportunities. The detailed Daily Journal details lectures and excursions, but also local cultural performances, musical concerts, wine tastings, interactive classes and fun quizzes.

Credit/debit cards on board Aegean Odyssey When activating your on-board account with a credit or debit card, please be advised that a Pre-Authorisation (hold) will be placed on your account. Although these are not actual charges, you should be aware that authorisations (holds) reduce the amount of available credit (or available funds) on your account. Final charges are not submitted to your card issuer until the day of disembarkation, which is when we will also obtain the authorisation to take monies. Some card issuers may take 10 to 14 days or more to release the authorisation (holds) from your account and these release policies vary by issuer. Please be advised that if you choose to settle your on-board balance with a different form of payment than the one you registered at the beginning of your cruise, authorisations placed on your original registered credit/ debit card will remain until the standard release period.

Wi-Fi availability Aegean Odyssey has a dedicated internet room for the use of all passengers. The ship also has wireless “hotspots” in Reception, the Observation Lounge, and the smoking area on Deck 5 aft. Passengers should note that when the ship is at sea, connectivity in these locations may be subject to fluctuation, and also that Wi-Fi is not available in your cabin at any time.

Laundry facilities Throughout your cruise your dedicated cabin steward will be available to collect and return laundry to you within a maximum of 48 hours, subject to the fees as detailed in the form found in your cabin compendium.

Whilst we understand that some passengers would like to be able to do their own laundry, we regret to advise that due to the size of Aegean Odyssey a self-service laundry room is not available. Clothes irons are also not available, or permitted, in passenger cabins for safety reasons.

ON-BOARD ADVISORIES

Swimming pool availability We understand that the use of a swimming pool is often a valued part of a holiday experience and we will always do our best to keep the pool available to passengers during our voyages. However, there are various situations that may cause us to close the pool. These include, but are not limited to, bad weather, heavy swells, quality of seawater, and the draft required for the ship to reach certain ports, especially when approaching, or cruising up or down river.

Public room availability Please be aware that on occasion certain public rooms, deck areas and dining areas may be used by special interest groups travelling on board for private functions, lectures and other events. Whilst we will always do our best to ensure that these do not conflict with more common times of regular guest access, we appreciate your understanding that on occasion this is not always possible.

Dining reservations As we offer an open-seating dining policy in both the Marco Polo Restaurant and Terrace Café, it is not possible to make individual reservations in either restaurant. We apologise for previous brochure references which incorrectly stated otherwise.

Transportation on board the ship is provided solely by the ship operator and pursuant to the Passage Contract. Voyages to Antiquity reserves the right to accept or decline any person as a guest for any reason. Guests agree not to hold Voyages to Antiquity, its owners, agents or representatives liable for any loss, injury, expense or damage which results directly or indirectly from any act or omission, whether negligent or otherwise, of any third party person or firm which is to, or does, provide goods or services in connection with the trip or any available option. Without limiting the foregoing, Voyages to Antiquity shall have no liability to passengers for the quality of services at, and the condition, cleanliness or safety of a hotel, housing facility, or conveyance, or for any transportation delay, including but not limited to liability for inconvenience, shortened holiday time, additional expenses,

Guests with special needs

The tour programmes featured in this brochure include extensive sightseeing and to fully participate each guest must be reasonably fit and have no walking difficulties. Whenever possible Voyages to Antiquity will try to accommodate guests with special needs as long as the mobility issues are not an impediment to others on the guided tours. For further details, refer to the Essential Travel Information leaflet or to that section of the Voyages to Antiquity website.
