PLAN FOR RADIANT SKIN THIS SEASON A PLAN TO HELP YOU KEEP THAT HEALTHY LOOKING GLOW. DON’T LET THE UPCOMING COLDER MONTHS GET THE BEST OF YOU. GET MORE RADIANT SKIN WITH THESE 5 “MUST TRY” TIPS

As the temperature drop, it’s time to switch from foamy shower gels to more moisturizing cleansers and soaps. Look for products with some added oils.

Cold weather leads to low humidity, which leads to dry skin and dry airways. Add humidity to the air in your room with an electric humidifier.

Take warm, not hot, showers in the winter. And keep it short! Apply a rich moisturizers immediately after a shower. This locks in your skins natural moisture. Try a rich body lotion or a cream with alpha-hydroxy acid to exfoliate the dry scales while hydrating your thirsty skin. (Vive favorite is Eucerin). Fight back against dry hands and cracked fingertips that result from overexposure to dry cold air and excessive hand washing. Apply a rich hand cream to seal those cracks while you sleep. Apply before going to bed after you wash your hands. 26 26

The One Sexy Thing

You’re Not Giving Him Enough Of No, not that. And not that other thing either. We’re talking about cuddling. Really. Researchers just discovered it could be the secret to a blissfully happy relationship. It’s stereotype-breaking time: A recent study of over 1,000 coupled -up people found that frequent cuddling was a predictor of relationship happiness and longevity among guys. And what’s more, gens who got that kind of TLC from their partners reported being more satisfied than the ones who didn’t. You might be surprised, but psychologist and sex therapist wasn’t. “Men almost globally report enjoying when their partner’s initiate this type of touching." It’s all about sharing physically intimate moments and touching him in a way that sends the message, “I want to be with you, I choose you, I like being and feeling close to you”. Not sure how to get that message across? Here are four get-close moves that will boost your twosome happiness and if done in public, won’t make others gag. Much.

Be the big spoon. We know, we just turned your universe upside-down. But if women can run Fortune 500 companies, get elected to office, and drive race cars, we can be the larger of the two utensils too. This isn’t just about exercising your rights as a woman though. Being the big spoon can be more pleasurable for both you and your guy. Then further tweak your spooning technique. As an eating device, the spork totally sucks (seriously, what’s the point?), but as a cuddling position, it rocks. Here’s how you spork: Start in spooning position (you’re the little spoon this time). But instead of laying on your side with your knees touching each other, lay on your back (still in the crevice of his big spoon, though). Leave your bottom leg aligned with his legs, but throw the top leg over his. It’s more comfortable—no dead arm for you— and it allows you to kiss, unlike when you’re spooning. Hold his forearm. Hand-holding is great in theory and romantic comedies. In a lot of real life situations and heat waves, it can be kind of awk (sweaty and clammy. Did we mention the heat wave?) Holding his forearm or the crook of his elbow; however, may sound strange, but it’s actually a pretty genius move. Men’s forearms are loaded with lots of nerve endings so touching him there will give him the warm and fuzzies. Plus, this move will make him feel like such a manly man. (Think of how couples used to walk in old time movies, the woman gripping his forearm as if she couldn’t walk down the street without him. Not that we’re all for that kind of relationship but we can be big spoons, remember.) Let him use your lap as a pillow. Next time you’re watching TV together, sit at one end of the couch and have him lay down with his head resting on your thighs. His scalp is jam-packed with pleasure-sensing nerves and experts are constantly telling us that men’s ears are super sensitive to the touch as well. Treat him to a noggin massage then suggest he return the favor. source woman health

VIVEFIT

Let's face it: it's not all that difficult to start a fitness routine. After all, most of us have done it more than once. The trouble, of course, comes with sticking with it. All too often, our initial enthusiasm and energy wanes, we get distracted by other things going on in our lives, or we don't think we're seeing results quickly enough; then we throw in the towel. Yet many people do manage to hang in there and would no sooner skip their regular workout than their morning shower. What's their secret? Start with some basic fitness routine and follow these Vive fit habits to start putting your fitness priorities in the right place. VIVE FIT HABIT #1 Staying hydrated, before, during and after you exercise. Shapes Up: Your kidneys. How It Works: When you’re drinking enough water, your kidneys have an easier time balancing your blood minerals, such as sodium, phosphorous and potassium. They don’t have to work quite as hard! VIVE FIT HABIT #2 Hitting the treadmill or trail four to five times per week. Shapes Up: Your heart. How It Works: Regular cardio increases your heart’s efficiency. The better your cardiovascular fitness, the more blood your heart pumps per beat, which means it doesn’t have to work as hard to get the blood to the tissues. 48

VIVE FIT HABIT #3 Joining an outdoor 5K training group. Shapes Up: Your brain. How It Works: Exercise increases the flow of oxygen to your brain, and studies have shown that taking your workout outdoors can additionally increase your memory and attention.

VIVE FIT HABIT #5 Starting your morning with some yoga or stretches. Shapes Up: Your lungs. How it Works: Because it helps you gain control of the muscles in your diaphragm, core training (a large component of yoga and Pilates exercises) can strengthen lung function.

VIVE FI T HABIT #4 Skipping the “Happy Hour” when out with your pals. Shapes Up: Your liver. How It Works: Alcohol is toxic to your liver and can lead to inflammation or permanent scarring of this organ. Avoid it to make sure that your liver’s function is not compromised.

BONUS Your Forgotten Fit Part

Did you know that your skin is an organ too? It’s actually the largest one, and it produces a new outer layer about once a month. Not only is your skin important in temperature regulation (a.k.a. sweating), but it’s also a barrier against infections. Proper hydration and getting enough non-saturated heart-healthy fat will keep your skin healthy. But perhaps the most important thing you can do is to wear sunscreen with both UVA and UVB protection, even if you’re just out for a 30-minute walk.
