Comenius Multilateral Partnership 2010-2012

Meeting Report Massa e Cozzile May 14th – 21st The partner countries attended the second meeting of the project in Massa e Cozzile, Italy from the 14th – 21st May 2011. The aims of this meeting were to practice their communication skills in the various languages involved and get to know the Italian culture. The school, Istituto Compresivo Statale Bernardo Pasquini, gave a warm welcome to the partners with an assembly involving folk dances and local music. They also presented a film about their school made by the German classes in German with English subtitles. They touched the partners by playing their national anthems and everybody was able to join in the European anthem.

It was the first time the students had the opportunity to meet their partners. They stayed with host families and thereby experienced the Italian culture, e.g. Italian cuisine and life style. At the school they attended classes and exchanged their knowledge of the partner languages. The host school gave an exclusive Italian lesson that helped students to mingle and to get to know each other. They did their PP presentations about their own country and school system in English, the project language. The host school also gave the students ample opportunity to practice their new skills in informal settings e.g. picnics at the school, an open air

Meeting Report Massa e Cozzile May 14th – 21st painting competition and field trips to different locations. The host country presented its culture to the partners by taking them to quite a few important locations in Tuscany such as Florence, Pisa and Lucca. The partner countries are grateful to the Italian school with its students, teachers and families for their deep involvement in the project that is the whole school community and the municipality. Most of the activities the teachers prepared for the first year proved to be successful. The logo­contest succeeded in many different results. The teachers chose one to be the official logo of the project.

Teachers evaluated the first year of the project. They agreed that the students improved their communication skills. Students were motivated to learn about the partner countries and to acquire basic knowledge of the languages involved. They gained knowledge by using their improved ICT skills. They were able to use the platform to listen to audio files and upload documents. The teachers talked about the next project meeting in Iceland where they are going to plan the activities for the second year of the project.
