Vladimir Kanizaj’s life journey provided him with powerful motivation to make a difference in the lives of his clients. Left in Croatia by his parents before his first birthday, he met them again when he flew to Canada at the age of four. He left behind a loving grandmother and found himself in an abusive, dysfunctional household. It is here that he first learned his astounding survival skills. He gained the strength to leave home and, unbeknownst to anyone, he struck out on his own in the tenth grade. Vladimir supported himself through the rest of his high school years and on into college. At the age of twenty, Vladimir married and soon was the father of two. After fourteen years, he became a divorced single parent raising his two children alone. His need to be the best saw him rise to the top as he pursued a career in financial management, at the same time becoming a super athlete in basketball, volleyball and soccer. However, his dark side continually surfaced and he was challenged with rage, and people pleasing issues. He became involved in addictive behaviors and was a self-confessed workaholic, immersing himself into acquiring financial degrees and studying psychology. A diagnosis of doom at age thirty-nine led him to study alternative health modalities, and natural medicine. He attributes those studies to his still being alive today. 10 years ago, Vladimir saw a most gentle,kind man working in a hospice with hundreds, perhaps thousands of people speaking their last words to him; he kept hearing two questions. “AM I LOVED?” and “DID I LOVE WELL?” Vladimir decided not to wait until death, and began asking those same questions to himself every day. Today, he feels it instantly, moment to moment, if he is not honoring himself and others in a loving manner. He has now moved from being a ‘people pleaser/rager’ to feeling overwhelming bouts of happiness for no apparent reason.
