Announcements Residents can learn about Free concert April 17 features Sunset Internet scams, security Strummers Ukulele Band issues and computer crimes on April 30 FALLBROOK – The Fallbrook Citizens’ Crime Prevention Committee will sponsor a free crime prevention seminar about Internet scams, security issues, and computer crimes on Wednesday, April 30, from 7 to 8:30 p.m. at the Fallbrook Library (community room), 124 S. Mission Road. The guest speaker will be Deputy District Attorney Brendan McHugh, project director of the Computer and Technology Crime High-Tech Response Team (C.A.T.C.H.), with the San Diego

County District Attorney’s Office. McHugh’s presentation will cover current revelations about the collection of personal data at Target stores and by Google, new viruses, and money-demanding scams for ransom that can infiltrate a person’s email. He will enlighten attendees about the newest methods to reduce vulnerability of one’s personal data, computer, and smart phone. Residents are invited to learn how to protect themselves against these crimes.

Learn another culture by hosting an exchange student FALLBROOK – Local residents have an opportunity to learn about another culture by hosting an exchange student in their home. On Saturday, May 10, at 1 p.m., Kathy Marbach, academic coordinator with Cultural Homestay International, will be giving an informational program

at Fallbrook Library on how to become a host family for incoming exchange students during the 2014-2015 school year. Students would attend Fallbrook High School for five or 10 months. Even families without children can host! Contact Kathy for more information at (540) 845-2235.

Taco dinner fundraiser offered to help girls rugby team FALLBROOK – The Fallbrook Girls Rugby Club will hold a taco dinner and raffle fundraising event on Saturday, April 19 from 5 to 8 p.m. at the Fallbrook High School cafeteria, 2400 S. Stage Coach Ln. The evening will consist of food and fun. For $10 each, supporters receive a dinner of three tacos, rice, beans, drink, and dessert. Raffle tickets will be $1 each; prizes include Legoland tickets, Sea World tickets, various gift certificates, and much more.

seniors and near-seniors that strum, sing, dance, and just have a good time. They are based in Vista and are led by Eleanor Nedjar. The concert series at the library, 124 S. Mission Rd., is presented

the third Thursday of each month and is sponsored by the Friends of the Fallbrook Library. Seating is limited; arrive early to ensure a seat.

Quilt Guild scholarship deadline nears FALLBROOK - The deadline for a scholarship up to $1,500 is quickly approaching. April 21 is the deadline for applications to be submitted for the Fallbrook Quilt Guild scholarship. This scholarship is being offered to any graduating high school senior in the greater Fallbrook area who will be attending an accredited college or university

during the 2014-15 academic year. While not a requirement, preference may be given to someone who has a family member or close friend in the Guild. Preference may also be given to someone connected to quilting and/or fiber arts. Application requirement information as well as the application itself can be accessed through the website at

www.fallbrookquiltguild.com. The Fallbrook Quilt Guild is involved in many philanthropic activities and raises funds through their involvement in the Fallbrook Fall Festival, their quilt show every other year, and by selling opportunity tickets for a beautiful handmade quilt.
