KEITH HART President - The Hart Agency Chairman - 2018 Long Island Hospitality Ball Welcome to the Long Island Hospitality Ball 2018! I am so proud to be a part of this extraordinary team of people in the industry. Each member leaves their competitive differences at the door or what we like to say, “Leave your egos at the door” to donate their time and money to a cause greater than us.The outcome of their combined talents is displayed in this spectacular event that gets better every year.We have some of the best wine, spirits and beer companies, restaurateurs, nightclub owners, saloonkeepers, promoters, entertainers, bartenders, and wait staff that Long Island has to offer. All this and more to give a night back to the hard working hospitality industry and to raise money and awareness towards finding a cure for cancer. As many of you already know, cancer knows no boundaries. It does not discriminate and as more are affected each year, either personally or someone you know, our efforts need to strengthen. I, too, know cancer all too well, and that is why I feel it is a duty of mine to give back and support the struggle towards finding cures. This year our honorees have put forth much effort in helping with the event. Every year we select honorees based on their years in the business and their accomplishments. Our first honoree, Martin (Marty) Crane is the Executive Vice President and General Manager of NewYork at Southern Glazer’s Wine and Spirits,. Before I had the pleasure of meeting Marty, I knew of him because of the aura of respect his employees have for him. When Marty and I first met, I quickly noticed why people gravitate to him. He is a natural born leader, and a straight shooter; let’s just say there is a lot to say about a man that looks you directly in the eye and ‘pulls no punches’. It is for this reason and for his tremendous list of accomplishments in the wine and spirits industry that I cannot think of a better person that deserves to be honored; he is a true asset to the industry. The LIHB would not be able to achieve such magnitude if it was not for Marty and his team at Southern Glazer’s Wine & Spirits. Rosalinda Secondini and Viviana Barcia from Southern Glazer’s were not only instrumental in organizing this year’s event but were also a pleasure to work with. This year, 2018, has shined a light on women who expand and recreate what they can be, do and accomplish in circumstances that they were previously denied. Our next honoree, Janine Dion shattered all glass ceilings by excelling to the top of an industry that is 90% male; fading away any gender bias and proving women were always equal to men. Janine is the Senior Vice President of Sales and Marketing at Crest Hollow Country Club. She is arguably found in the dictionary under perseverance; she paved her own path to success while carrying herself with dignity and class. Also, I would like to thank Janine and her team at the Crest Hollow Country Club for the support each year. I would like to give gratitude to the committee members and the executive committee for all of their valuable time and hard work that makes an event of this caliber possible. Secondly, I would like to give a very special thanks to MariaElena who works endlessly and for keeping me organized and grounded. Next, my strong and intelligent fiancée, Heather Louise Grumet, soon to be Hart, for keeping me balanced during the planning process. Also, to our partners from the Carol M. Baldwin Breast Cancer Research Fund, and Dr. Brian O’Hea, Director of the Carol M. Baldwin Breast Care Center; it has been a pleasure working with you over the last few years. Finally, much appreciation goes to our participants and sponsors that show support year after year. Thank you everyone for making the Long Island Hospitality Ball 2018 the most anticipated event of the season! It is the collaborative efforts of our members, participants and your contribution that helps bring awareness to a cause close to our hearts, and creates a night that will be “the most fun you will have with your clothes on!” So please enjoy the fabulous food, delicious libations and exceptional entertainment!

June 25, 2018 Dear Friends, I am humbled to be named the LIHB’s first female Honoree. Special thanks to Keith Hart and his extraordinary team for nominating me and supporting the empowerment of women in the Hospitality industry. I proudly share this honor with my Crest Hollow team as we host this year’s Ball and strive to make it a record-breaking success! As the late Joseph Monti, Founder of Crest Hollow Country Club, so often reminded me, “you work the better part of your life; you best enjoy what you do.” He valued a woman’s business acumen and intuitively understood that including women in leadership roles added a diversity of attitudes, outlooks, and experience. He was a man who led by example and from him I learned the importance of humility and paying it forward. We lost Mr. Monti in 2007, but his presence remains at the club and in my heart. My thanks to Richard Monti, Crest Hollow’s CEO, who inherited his Dad’s utmost respect for women and who takes leadership to the next level. Richard believes that women bring a unique perspective to business and I am grateful that he is the kind of person that encourages women to take on challenges, stand up and be counted, and embrace leadership roles both in business and in the community. He seamlessly continues his father’s legacy and shares his belief in following your passion. Never underestimate the power in someone believing in you. Congratulations to my fellow 2018 honorees for their amazing accomplishments and to the Carol M. Baldwin Breast Cancer Research Fund for their steadfast commitment to finding a cure for breast cancer. I am especially grateful to every vendor, sponsor, and guest that contributed to the success of this event, and for making our hospitality industry shine. I would like to end with this quote from Maya Angelou – “The mission in life is not to merely survive, but to thrive; and to do so with some passion, some compassion, some humor, and some style.” With that, I ask each of you to be kind to one another, spay and neuter your pets, and adopt, don’t shop for your next best friend! Yours truly,
 Janine Dion
Senior Vice President, Sales and Marketing

Long Island Hospitality Ball HONOREE - JANINE DION Janine Dion launched her career at Crest Hollow Country Club in 1983 as a part-time receptionist while attending Adelphi University. That same year, she was offered a full-time, entry-level position in Crest Hollow’s Banquet Sales office, in 1994 was promoted to Director of Sales and Marketing, and more recently Senior Vice President of Sales & Marketing. Dion serves as an Advisory Board Member and lectures for the Sales and Marketing Department at Nassau Community College and serves on the Board of the Don Monti Memorial Research Foundation. She also served on the Board of Directors for the Long Island Convention and Visitors Bureau. Honors include ACIT’s Monsignor Hartman Humanitarian Award for Excellence in the field of Hospitality & for Spirit and Kindness for Long Island Pets, Nassau County Boy Scouts’ Lady Baden Powell Award, Girls Inc.’s Butterfly Award, and inductions into the Long Island Business News’ Top Fifty Most Influential Women’s Hall of Fame and the Long Island Volunteer Hall of Fame. Dion was an Honoree at Philanthropy Day’s Association of Fundraising Professionals, and has been honored by Education and Assistance Corporation, Long Island Elite, Last Hope Animal Rescue, and the Animal Lovers League. Dion’s personal passion is her role as Founder and President of the not-for-profit organization, Pet Peeves, Inc. “the voice of Long Island pets.” Pet Peeves is a 501-C3, all volunteer, umbrella organization which benefits the abandoned, abused, and neglected animals of Long Island through fundraising, Humane Education, and Pet Therapy programs. Dion and her Board of Directors recently celebrated seventeen years of service to Long Island’s needy pets and has raised and distributed over one million dollars in grants. Dion’s mentor is the late Joseph Monti, former CEO of Crest Hollow Country Club and Chairman of the Don Monti Memorial Research Foundation.

Long Island Hospitality Ball HONOREE - MARTY CRANE With 32 years of experience in the wine and spirits and consumer packaged goods industries behind him and a long track record of delivering results, Martin Crane was originally hired by Southern Glazer’s Wine & Spirits in October of 2016 as the Vice President of Commercial Operations where he successfully drove the New York’s commercial operations, finance, pricing, sales, operations and business intelligence of the NYS market to new heights. In less than a year’s time, Southern Glazer’s proudly appointed Marty to the esteemed position of Executive Vice President, General Manager of New York State, responsible for managing the Company’s day-to-day sales and operations throughout the entire New York State Market. This very successful professional was certainly no stranger to Southern Glazer’s because prior to joining them in New York, he was the Senior Vice President of Spirit Sales for Pernod Ricard USA; a well-established Supplier of Southern Glazer’s. In his early career, Marty held various sales and management roles with Carter Products, Beiersdorf, Inc., and Beecham Products before starting his career in beverage alcohol in 1998 at Seagram Americas, where he helped shape their strategic approach to category management. He then moved to Pernod Ricard USA as part of the 2001 Seagram acquisition, where he laid the foundation for their chain strategy as Divisional Vice President, National Accounts. During his 15-year tenure at Pernod Ricard USA, he held multiple roles of increasing responsibility, including positions in national accounts and regional management. Subsequently, he was named Division Vice President, East Sales Region, General Manager, PRUSA East and finally Senior Vice President, Spirit Sales. In that role, he managed a team of 270 field sales, marketing and finance professionals covering all trade channels. His extensive history in the wine & spirits industry has created a close relationship with supporting causes that are close to his heart. As a result, he has previously been a significant sponsor donor of the Long Island Hospitality Ball both with Pernod Ricard USA and now with Southern Glazer’s Wine & Spirits. We are proud to honor this fine gentleman and professional who has generously supported the Long Island Hospitality Ball every single year since it began. This is our 2018 Honoree…Martin (Marty) Crane

Long Island Hospitality Ball POSTHUMOUSLY HONORING GIL TRAVALIN hospitality noun • generous and friendly treatment of visitors and guests : hospitable treatment • the activity of providing food, drinks, etc. for people who are the guests or customers of an organization I could not think of a word that so clearly defined Gil Travalin as the word hospitality. He was generous and friendly to everyone he interacted with. Gil had an inviting smile and could charm himself into anyone’s good graces. He had a passion for wine. More importantly he had a passion to share and teach about wine. He had an animated approach to talking about the subject. His hands would fly around in the air while his glasses stayed perched on his forehead; a telltale sign that he was engaged, excited and ready to teach. He never made you feel small or uninformed when he talked about wine; instead he made you feel like you wanted to learn more. Gil inspired countless men and women to pursue a career in beverage and hospitality and in turn used all of his connections and resources to help them reach their goals while never asking for a favor in return. 1988 Gil began his career in the hospitality industry at Frank’s Steakhouse in Jericho. He started as a waiter and quickly the owners at Frank’s realized Gil’s interactions with the guests and his inquisitive nature towards wine would lead to more. By the end of his tenure Gil had drastically increased the beverage program. He regularly conducted wine tastings and educated the service staff while running from table-to-table making suggestions for his favorite wines, many of which are still on the menu at Frank’s today. After a decade at Frank’s, Gil moved on to become a sommelier and make his mark on a wine program that has become somewhat of a Long Island legend at Carltun On The Park. Gil took a burgeoning wine program consisting of 450 selections from around the globe to an 1,800 selection cellar-unheard of on Long Island. Gil regularly would take trips to Christie’s and Sotheby’s in Manhattan to bid on old vintage lots to add to the collection. Most notably procuring 26 different representations from the storied 1982 Bordeaux vintage. He spent much of his free time reading and learning as much as he could on wine regions, wine makers and vintages to create this massive and well-curated list. His first year was awarded the Two Glass Best of Award of Excellence from Wine Spectator Magazine. In 2000 Gil was hired to take on a dream job for any sommelier: beverage director for the Rothmann’s Steakhouse/Boulder Creek Ventures group. Gil created beverage programs for 15 prime and casual steakhouses. He hired and fostered sommeliers at all 5 prime locations creating the biggest beverage program on Long Island with wine lists of over 700 selections and some of the largest spirit and sake programs in New York. The prime steakhouses regularly hosted wine maker dinners featuring some of the most influential people in the wine world. This was based on Gil’s relationships and overall respect for his accomplishments. All five steakhouses were awarded honors from Wine Spectator Magazine and Gil was featured in print and television as an authority on wine and hospitality. In 2007 Gil went on to work for Martin Scott Wines as a Fine Wine Consultant. He was able to use his 20 plus years of experience to help many restaurateurs raise the level of their beverage program.Very much like the people that Gil touched over the years, he left a piece of himself and his passion with each account that he worked with. Long Island hospitality has forever been changed for the better because of one of its own in Gil Travalin. I could write another ten pages of names that are directly connected to Gil and his legacy in the industry.Whether it was a conversation over some wine that helped make up your mind on what you wanted to do, or in some cases years of support and teaching that led to another generation of kind, generous and passionate people who get excited to teach and help others learn all things wine…. And yes sometimes throw your hands around while doing it.

Long Island Hospitality Ball 2018 ED LOWE MEDIA AWARD NADA MARJANOVICH In choosing the 2018 “Ed Lowe Media Award” recipient, we decided for the first time to go a different route. Our first 2 awards were given to a famous on-air personality and a legendary food critic. This was the perfect year to jump over to the entrepreneurial side of the media. I first met Nada Marjanovich in 2005 at my then Garden City Hotel office as she was kicking off PULSE Magazine. Within 5 minutes I knew this wasn’t going to be the same old start-up magazine that never makes it. Nada had a vision and a goal to become Long Island’s premiere full color magazine. This was a very bold move considering where print media was going. She knew what she wanted and definitely knew what she didn’t want to be. 13 years and 13 million copies later, we are honoring Nada and her magazine as the dream was fulfilled. New York media has always viewed Long Island as the Manhattan stepchild. Now, finally the Island has an A-List magazine of its own. Taking a quote from Nada’s 10th Anniversary edition, “We are a collection of people that see the Island for what it could be; an organic, ever- evolving place defying any narrow definition. We live on the south side of the clock, always pushing a deadline. We are running through the world with our mouths open hoping to drink it all in.” PULSE Magazine has had some of the most impressive covers and interviews Long Island has ever seen. The first cover back in 2005 featured the Jones Beach Pencil. As the 13th Anniversary approaches this July, Nada can boast Alicia Keys, Martin Scorsese, Beth Stern, John McEnroe, Santana, Russell Simmons, Natalie Portman and Andrew Cuomo, just to name a few. If you are thinking the magazine became snobbish…FORGET IT! In continued support of the Long Island hospitality industry Nada chose 4 local lifers in the biz to grace the cover of the November 2011 “Night Hawks” edition. PULSE has also become well known in the dining world for featuring not only world-famous chefs but some home grown culinary talent. PULSE has shown us many wonderful “Stay-cations” from North to South shore, Fire Island and the Hamptons, but the magazine doesn’t stop there as Nada has taken us around the world with some of the most exciting resort and vacation reviews. Personally, Nada Marjanovich is a pianist, equestrian, skier and art hound. She is fluent in 4 languages, studied at the John Jay College of Criminal Science and earned a B.A. from Stony Brook University with Phi Beta Kappa honors. The Executive Board of the Long Island Hospitality Ball thanks Nada Marjanovich for taking that great leap in 2005 so that we can say CONGRATULATIONS in 2018. Ed Lowe would be very proud. Dear Friends: Welcome to the 8'h Annual Long Island Hospitality Ball. This extraordinary evening brings together colleagues, family and friends for a wonderful evening of food, wine, spirits and entertainment. It also brings awareness to the importance of breast cancer research. Through the goodwill and support of individuals and companies, we have been able to fund research grants totaling over 5 million dollars to Stony Brook Medicine. The objective of this research is to examine the causes, develop new treatments and find a cure for breast cancer. This would not be possible without your support. Your kindness allows us to continue this valiant effort. On behalf of the Carol M. Baldwin Breast Cancer Research Fund and my family, we would like to thank Long Island Hospitality Ball creator and organizer, Keith Hart, and the Hart Agency Staff, the Executive Committee & all the volunteers who worked so diligently to make tonight's event a reality. It is their commitment to teamwork and their dedication to this worthy cause that makes it possible for us to enjoy the Long Island Hospitality Ball. Congratulations to our 2018 Honorees: Janine Dion, Martin Crane and Nada Marjanovich, and to the family of Gil Travalin, for recognition of their generosity and service to the community. RICH SCHAFFER SUPERVISOR

June 25, 2018 Dear Friends, It is my pleasure to send warm greetings to everyone gathered for the 8th annual Long Island Hospitality Ball, benefiting the Carol M. Baldwin Breast Cancer Research Fund. The Carol M. Baldwin Breast Cancer Research Fund is committed to battling breast cancer by providing the funding necessary to allow researchers to learn more about this awful disease. Every one of us knows a mother, sister or aunt that has been stricken with breast cancer, and I can think of no worthier cause for tonight's event. I want to extend a special congratulation to tonight's honorees: Janine Dion and Marty Crane. These individuals have not only supported public causes and charities through their professional work, but have also given so much of their personal time and resources to further cancer research. The Long Island Hospitality Ball is a unique event that unifies the leading voices in the hospitality industry to support an outstanding cause. With everyone's support tonight, the Long Island Hospitality Ball volunteer committee will be able to continue its fantastic work in the fight against cancer for years to come.

Enjoy the evening,

June 25, 2018 Long Island Hospitality Ball Crest Hollow Country Club 8325 Jericho Turnpike Woodbury, NY 11797 Dear Friends: It is a pleasure to send greetings to everyone gathered for the 2018 Long Island Hospitality Ball, hosted by the Baldwin Family, benefitting the Carol M. Baldwin Breast Cancer Research Fund. Organized by restaurateur and thyroid cancer survivor Keith Hart and supported by the Long Island Hospitality Industry, this exciting event demonstrates the best of the human spirit. It highlights the altruistic enthusiasm of people - in this case, some of Long Island's most successful chefs and restaurant owners - to come together in kinship, united to save lives and end the suffering caused by cancer. The fight against this insidious disease is a battle that can and will be won, and everyone present tonight can take great pride in knowing that by joining together for a meaningful cause, you contribute to the progress that continues to be made. By addressing this difficult diagnosis with care, compassion, and knowledge, you offer the hope and promise of survival and good health to patients and their families. Tonight, you come together to support cancer research and I join in congratulating your distinguished honorees: Janine Dion, Martin Crane, Nada Marjanovich, and Gil Travalin, posthumously. The unwavering advocacy and generous contributions of each of these award recipients make it possible to hope that we are approaching the day when cancer no longer affects our lives and the lives of those we love. With warmest regards and best wishes for a successful evening.
