Dear Kindred Friends, Inspired by this mismatched bouquet upon my desk, a flower garden analogy springs to mind as I share this summery book with you. An enticing variety of 153 new beauties await your discovery here, nestled amongst enduring, perennial favorites…all for the picking. Over the years our best loved goods return as reliably as roses. Enduring and lovely. But as sudden as surprise amaryllis, captivating new annuals spring up on these pages. To mention but a few: Toss strawberries, mint and candied pecans with our exquisite salad tongs. Intricately cast silver birds perch atop teak utensils and bowls that long for savory greens (p15). While en route to paradise, (lest there be any doubt as to which suitcase is yours at baggage claim), a Belgian floral still life stretches easily over your luggage (p7). Peeking out from ballerina flats everywhere, experience our lace footies (p32) assured to keep your soles powder dry. And like those virtuous Victorians, we hopeless romantics opt to view a glass as half-full (Optimist Glass on p14). Our lighthearted avocado bowl reads “Holy Guacamole” in an old love letter typewriter font (p15). My favorite new arrival is a buttercup-hued nightie (p43) sewn in airy cotton and graced with lace so delicate that it appears to be rescued from a cherished vintage garment. I will live in this all summer…even to dreamland.
