I f you find the world of mathematics mystifying, then perhaps you haven't been taught by Fr. Arnold Perham, C.S.V., the award-winning former Math Department Chair at St. Viator High School, Arlington Heights, IL. and Teacher of Faith. A long-time faculty member, Fr. Perham continues on the cutting edge of new teaching technology, moving well beyond text books and slide rules to graphics calculators and software design, among other tools.

But more remarkable is his vision of the role of priest-teacher in impacting student lives. In reflecting on what he brings to teaching which is special to being a Viatorian priest and religious, Fr. Perham comments: "I have come to realize that for myself, my teaching ministry must be an extension of the liturgy. Liturgy is the story of what God is doing for and with us in Christ. A former teacher, trainer, athletic director and president were all honored recently at St. Viator High School in Arlington Heights, IL. But it was a "one-man shmv" recognizing the work of Fr. Patrick Cahill, C.S.V. This remarkable Viatorian was honored for his 16 year involvement with the now coed school at festivities celebrated by 250 friends, alumni and parents. The highlight of the gala evening was the unveiling of the plaque, formally naming the facility as the Rev. Patrick G. Cahill, C.S.V. Gymnasium. During the ceremonies, Pat (known by generations of Viator students as "Crank") reflected on his service to the school. "I loved working with the kids.
