T he City of Vet·sailles, France, has a st,~t.ue of Abbe de l' Epee on the ma.gniticAnt pleasme grounds which were creat ed by Lo uis XIV. Another statue of Abbe de 1' Epee was crecte1i in the garden of the Paris Deaf and Dumb Insti tution o n May 24, 1879. It was madA filld presented to the institution by the famous French deaf-mu te sculptor Mons . .Martin. The ped'estal is a. dorned wi th thrc.e bronze bas-reliefs. It represents A bbe de l' Epee in his cassock teach ing a little \leaf boy the word " Di eu" (God). The sacred name is · i n~>crib­ e d on a t ablet whieh be bold!' in his left han u, as its dactylologic t•epresentatio n is depicted .
