Medical Assisting Career Studies Certificate

Can you picture yourself working in the medical field? This program provides essential technological and practical knowledge required to perform patient clinical skills as a medical assistant in various medical office and laboratory settings. You can earn two credentials: CCMA (Certified Clinical Medical Assistant)/RMA (Registered Medical Assistant) and CPT (Certified Phlebotomy Technician).

Program Length 1 year (2 semesters)

Career Opportunities Medical assistants obtain employment in ambulatory care settings (medical offices), urgent care facilities, or laboratories.

G3 Eligible This program is G3 eligible. G3 Scholarships cover tuition and fees for Virginia residents of modest income who are pursuing high demand careers.

Tuition & Fees At only $162.11 per credit hour, you’ll save $10K to $22K, in tuition costs alone, by starting at VHCC! Out-of-state students living within a 30-mile radius qualify for in-state tuition.

With a bachelor’s degree in nursing as well as 30 years of experience in a variety of healthcare settings, Kim Felty brings a wealth of knowledge and extensive clinical and office setting experience to the classroom. With that, she is well-versed in the role of the medical assistant.
